๐จ STATE RECORD RAINFALL CONFIRMED
A rain total of 29.06" reported by a CoCoRaHS (home) weather station just southeast of Cottonport and southwest of Plaucheville in Avoyelles Parish has received initial confirmation as a new Louisiana state record for 24-hour rainfall. Even more remarkably, that total occurred in less than 12 hours.
Meteorologists with @NWSLakeCharles and State Climatologist @JayGrymes_WX confirmed it as a valid report today. The record is still considered preliminary until it receives final confirmation from @NOAANCEI .
It's 29th anniversary of the Jarrell, TX F5 Tornado.
Still one of the most fascinating atypical tornado formation processes ever documented.
Extreme CAPE w/ No Shear + Favorable Boundary Interactions + Back-building mergers = Landspout-turned-F5 Grinder
This is a huge loss in the weather enterprise. Pete was a tremendous contributor to our weather safety network and to advancing our weather warning systems. I learned a lot from Pete, and it was an honor for me to work by his side. Pete will be missed ๐
We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Pete Wolf. Before his scheduled appearance on the show Monday, he asked us to share his passion for teaching threat confirmation in severe weather. We were honored to do so. We will miss you Pete. https://t.co/Uy0bpxQg38
@DeeTaylor102@rawastro1@cfbmemes He could be the best, but I don't think we'll truly know until he wins a natty and then every team starts circling IU on the calendar. The greatest coaches continue to have success when nearly all opponents prepare for you like the SB.
@SpaceMtnDude@DavinBellamy17 Frazier didn't get hurt til really late in the game. He brought his A game for sure...wish he could have been in for the last drive ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
@BrentRollinsPhD It hurt not having Frazier, and just having Gunner drop back seemed a little too vanilla for what was the most important play of the season.
That was one of the most egregious call overturns I've ever seen..what an embarrassment to the institution of college football. There is no way in this universe that 1st down should have been overturned. I've never believed in fixes until I saw that.
@BigJoeBastardi Caveat in the SE. Yes, it hit -24 in Knoxville, TN, but there was a good snowpack at lower latitudes. I'm not saying it can't happen, just that there would need to be a good bit of snow cover that builds up before a big surge to equal Jan 85 in these parts.
