But what if the ladder itself is leaning against the wrong wall?

Maybe Jesus wasn’t simply reversing the hierarchy.

The Greek word for “patience” in Galatians 5 is makrothymia:

Long heat.
Long passion.
Longsuffering.

Not the absence of emotion—
but restraint under tension.
