Beans, Energy Drink and a MacBook: Deaf Suspect Admits Breaking Into Ronald Karauriโs Home.
A deaf suspect accused of breaking into the home of Kasarani MP and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri has pleaded guilty before a Nairobi court.
Jeremy Kamau admitted to unlawfully entering Karauri's residence in Westlands Sub-County and making away with an Apple MacBook Air laptop valued at KSh100,000, beans worth KSh250, and an energy drink. According to court proceedings, the unusual mix of stolen items has sparked widespread discussion online.
The court heard that Kamau was shot in the leg by a security officer during the incident and was later hospitalized for several months. Due to his hearing impairment, the court provided a sign language interpreter to ensure he fully understood the charges before entering his plea.
A magistrate ordered that the recovered items be returned to Karauri and directed probation officers to prepare a pre-sentence report ahead of sentencing. The case is scheduled for mention later this month.
