@FionaMattatall Yep. Medical students wrote letters to the government and met with MLAs before the pandemic...which clearly fell on deaf ears. Now I'm doing FM residency in BC π€·πΌββοΈ
Apparently you could see the northern lights last night (which I've wanted to see my entire life) but I was stuck inside the hospital working a 24 hour shift on Thanksgiving. Thanks, residency ππ
Incredibly surprised and disappointed to see the names of some of my former classmates on this list....somewhat less surprised to see the name of a malignant preceptor from medical school (but nonetheless still disappointing).
We had a poster for an anti-mask/ vaccine rally posted on our clinic door in Kamloops yesterday. A patient asked if it was supposed to be there...CERTAINLY NOT
Every time I go out I'm shocked by how few people are wearing masks. Went to @icbc the other day (government run) and not a single employee was wearing a mask...but oh if you want to sign any documents, you have to bring your own pen to avoid contamination. No I am not kidding.
we are begging you: PLEASE stop travelling to British Columbia.
virtually our entire province is on fire and thereβs nowhere for evacuees to go. we need hotels/airbnbs for our growing number of displaced residents (especially in the interior). #BCWildfire
Good morning! Hereβs your Mon morning #ADHD basics thread:
ADHD causes an inability to βfeelβ time. It is said that people with ADHD have a short βtime horizonβ; that we canβt see very far into the future. Since we struggle both to measure time (as in, how long something takes)
@Wdmkennedy I was planning on keeping mine but now I'm worried with Alberta dropping all of the isolation requirements that I'm going to start getting the side eye....I guess we'll find out π
Saying ER is great and all except for when you realize it's also your initials and you are now a doctor. Saw a note in a chart this week and wondered why my patient had to go to emerg...then realized ER was me π€¦πΌββοΈ
@MichelletypoQ Thank you for this. As med students we're required to attend an AA meeting...good in theory but not so much in practice. When I brought forward some concerns to the dept mentioned to me by other students, I was told that they (quote) "wouldn't even address those comments." π
Saw a comment trying to justify this by saying the amount of children found was equal to the mortality rate during the years the schools were open....umm even if they died of natural causes (hint: they didn't), burying children in unmarked graves is an atrocity. No justification.
@ab_vax Interesting....I live in Cochrane and signed up for their waitlist last week (and indicated I'm a healthcare worker) but haven't heard anything π₯
Took my LMCC yesterday through Prometric's remote proctoring service, and it was hands down the most unpleasant test-taking experience that I've had in my 20+ years of education. 0/10 would not recommend π₯΄
@laurahensc @simonnehorwitz Mine also started at 6am (yay for no other available times) so I was extra tired/cranky/hungry and didn't account for an extra hour of delay before my lunch break lol
@lexiwilson Omg I'm so jealous. I had to wait an insane amount of time for a proctor, then after my lunch break they made me exit and start again (unsure why?) so I went through the same process AND THE LADY GOT DISCONNECTED so had to start over yet again and wait another 20 mins
@simonnehorwitz I would definitely try to check in early and just be prepared to wait. I had problems checking in (system wouldn't recognize my front camera) and then once I did I had to wait almost an hour(!!!) for a proctor while sitting in silence with my camera on staring at a blank screenπ
