This is a historic day for Alberta!
We promised we’d submit a pipeline proposal for the major projects list. We said private industry was excited to invest. And we made a commitment to get the Pathways Project through to application. We have delivered on all three accounts.
The work is not done, but the path to becoming an energy superpower and building our economy for the next generation has never been more clear!

Top takeaways from the west coast pipeline presser:
1. Southern route but the port will be VLCC (very large crude carrier) capable
2. Pembina has come on (non-binding) as a co-proponent with Transmountain, AB and Canada
3. Tripartite agreement has been struck with oil sands companies with incentives and regulatory reforms sufficient to fill the pipeline. Carney says total value of investment across projects is equal to $200 billion
The next step towards building a new oil pipeline to Canada’s west coast is underway!
✅ Trans Mountain Corporation and Pembina Pipeline are now signed on to help deliver this nation-building project for Canada.
✅ New major national regulatory reforms and growth incentives to rapidly expand oilsands production
✅ The selected southern route from Bruderheim, Alberta to the southwest coast of British Columbia will be the fastest, most cost-effective path to expanding Canada's energy exports.
✅ The pipeline is anticipated to be designated as a Project of National Interest by October 1, 2026, with final permits to begin construction in place by September 1, 2027.
Not usually for new rules and regs but @JeromyYYC strikes the right tone here. Cowboys is in a new location right near housing downtown. Weekday workers (if any during Stampede!) and families deserve some peace and quiet in the wee hours! Nice job mayor! #ableg#abpoli
NEW COLUMN. Farkas vs Smith. On this one Farkas is right. This is not about Stampede. Not the Stampede. We are talking about two tents in high density neighbourhoods who appear to have no respect for their neighbours. https://t.co/xBXb61M5Io #ableg#abpoli#cdnpoli#yyc#yyccc
Many young people across Alberta are looking for opportunity and a chance to build their lives in this beautiful province. Separation is an old idea fraught with conflict, strife and division. Let’s build the province of the future, not the past. 🇨🇦 🏔️☀️

Healthy discussions about policy are not discussions about leaving the country.
Responsible leaders don’t gamble with Canada. Period. 🇨🇦
#cdnpoli#ableg#abpoli
I’m all for folks pointing out the potential risks of Alberta separating. That’s a healthy part of the debate.
But this whole “the separation debate is killing investment” argument is complete BS. Every economic indicator says the exact opposite. Every. Single. One.
Muzzling important discussions is foolish. Have a free and open debate and trust Albertans to make the right decision.
This is fair. Rebalancing the federation should be a goal of the next generation. It starts by calling out the elites who have tilted the balance against the West. We have more people west of Ontario than east and growing economic clout. Time for a change. #cdnpoli#ableg#abpoli
Vote to Stay! There’s lots that needs to change about how Canada treats the West and Alberta in particular. But as Albertans, we pull on our boots and get to work. Let’s make Canada a better place and lead, NOT follow in Canada.
@VotetoStayAB#ableg#abpoli#cdnpoli
Albertans aren’t victims and we’re not quitters. Let’s build on the great Alberta we’ve all created by fixing the flaws not tearing down the house. Alberta’s best days are still ahead of us.
#BREAKING: Statistics Canada says economic growth stalled in the first quarter and real gross domestic product was slightly negative on an annualized basis. https://t.co/oOyKIwMMiu
There’s no way this doesn’t end in an election in Alberta, likely before Oct 19th, possible to challenge her leadership or a general. Get a mandate to ask the question, then ask the question.

🚨 Premier Danielle Smith was just asked by a reporter whether she will remain Premier if the “pro-Canada” side she stated she will campaign for loses a referendum.
Voting on whether to have a vote is a ridiculous lack of provincial leadership.
Calgary is a globally connected city. Separation uncertainty is costing us jobs.
We have real work to do: building homes, improving public safety, fixing infrastructure, growing our economy, and making life better.
One thing is clear. This will be a tremendous waste of collective time and effort in a Province that needs to win and stay ahead of the game. If I were the Liberals you could hear the *chuckle* from the Rideau all the way to the majestic Laurentians #abpoli#ableg#cdnpoli
Democracy is not an enemy. Our democracy requires our elected officials tell us what they actually believe and what they plan to do in office before putting those beliefs into action.
Our democracy demands separatists generate real democratic legitimacy to hold a secession referendum.
Democracy demands a separatist party declare itself as such before it is elected to power.
Democracy demands that an explicitly separatist party defend itself in debate during a writ period; to be honest with the voters about the benefits and risks of holding a secession referendum.
Democracy demands that a separatist party win power in the legislature in a free and fair election prior to holding a referendum.
Albertans deserve this. Anything short of it isn't "democracy." It's an abuse of democracy by process. It's a betrayal of the trust of the voters of the highest order.
It is not smart to play games with a separation vote. If separatists want it, they should start a new party. My bet is they are tired of a fight that leads nowhere but down a rabbit hole. Stay strong Premier - do NOT call a vote! #ableg#abpoli#cdnpoli
📺 NEW AD: Alberta is leading the nation.
100,000 new jobs. The highest wages in the country. Billions in investment flowing in from every direction.
Smart policy, low taxes, and the hard work of Albertans.
Under Danielle Smith's strong leadership, we're getting the job done.

Frustrated federalists in AB abound. But if 60%+ equalization referendum didn’t do it, how will 30%+ for separation? Manning’s playbook was to send a strong signal to central Canada thru a regional party giving voice to Western discontent. Where’s Reform when we need it? #cdnpoli
Former Alberta premier Jason Kenney says he thinks hardcore separatists in his province are in the "single digits," and the rest of the movement is made up of "frustrated federalists who know separatism doesn't work...but they want to send a message"
