Turf school enrollment has dropped 75% in less than 20 years. At the same time, the golf industry has done very little to help reinforce the talent pipeline for turf programs. Groups like @SSCF_Foundation are trying their best to correct that trend

I’ve been waiting for this one to drop! Our boy Eric Richardson is one of the smartest, most buttoned-down people in the biz and he’s been an amazing leader within @GCSANE. Listen and learn from @erichturf!
The GCSANE Assistant Committee is proud to announce the creation of a new scholarship opportunity aimed at supporting the next generation of turfgrass professionals. This scholarship is specifically designed to help an aspiring individual attend the UMass Winter School.
No golf course wants to use more water than necessary, but how much should a course be using? The answer depends on a lot of factors. Using a “Course Coefficient” to benchmark annual water use against expected demand can provide insights into water use efficiency 👇
With flooding issues only getting worse, Miami Lakes Golf Club was in desperate need of change.
After listening to a Fried Egg Golf Podcast with architect Bruce Hepner, Danny Martinez reached out to the architect in search of help to fix his family-owned public golf course. And Hepner jumped right in.
Construction to breathe new life into this golf course is well underway and slated for a late 2025- early 2026 reopening. The project includes a completely reimagined golf course, clubhouse, top-tracer driving range and restaurant.
In addition to being one of the few affordable options in the area, Miami Lakes is also home to the First Tee of South Florida and other inclusive golf programs, so these upgrades will have a major impact on the local community.
To all of our registered assistant members, as well as non-member assistants, be sure to look into attending this event Monday 3/10/25 @Topgolf in Canton, Ma. Free for assistant members, $50 for non-member assistants.
We took the show on the road! Took some time to present our equipment technician initiative to the shop students at Greater Lowell Technical School week.

Slightly belated yet very hearty congratulations to Jack Davis for his appointment as the new Director of Golf at Merion.
Davis, who leaves Essex County Club after eight enormously successful years, succeeds the legendary Scott Nye, who after nearly 25 remarkable years steps into a new role as Director of Championships.
Nye leaves enormous shoes to fill, but great clubs make great hires, and Jack Davis is as good as they come. Congrats to all.
GCSAA is celebrating with @GCSANE as they celebrate their 100-year anniversary. GCSA of New England has a rich history of growing the golf course management profession. Included in that is two of GCSANE's members serving as presidents of GCSAA, Richard C. Blake, CGCS (1972), Donald E. Hearn, CGCS (1987) and Jim Fitzroy, CGCS (2010).
To all GCSANE members- don’t forget to sign up for the 100 year celebration happening on Friday November 8th at Pierce Farm at Witch Hill. Beautiful venue with open bar and carving stations, biz casual dress and great music from @hazzardcountyct $100 per person. Bring a guest!
Fall golf in New England means playing through some occasional elements. But not wind nor rain nor cold could bother Broken Tee Society members yesterday as they took a lap around one of Massachusetts's—and the world's—finest layouts in Essex County Club. Essex County is a see-it-to-believe-it routing, and one of the oldest in the country (the club was established 1893, and the golf course was finished in 1917). Donald Ross liked his work there so much that he and his family settled down beside the 16th green as Ross spent seven years as the club's professional. Some holes feel as if they are carved out of stone, and others appear to have always been there. No matter the conditions, you can feel the history and the magic of Essex with each step and each strike you take. A special day at a special place.
