“Youth mental health advocate in Canada | Using healthtech, sport, and entrepreneurship to build stronger minds | Actionable tips, resources, and real stories.”
“Youth mental health is in crisis—but we have more tools than ever to help.
As a youth mental health advocate in Canada, here are 7 practical ideas anyone can use to support stronger minds.
1) Make movement non‑negotiable.
Even 20–30 minutes of sport or physical activity can improve mood, focus, and sleep for young people.
2) Normalize talking about emotions.
Ask specific questions like ‘What was the hardest part of your day?’ instead of ‘How was your day?
3) Use tech intentionally, not endlessly.
Set clear screen‑time boundaries, but also lean on mental‑health apps, online counseling, and digital communities that actually support well‑being.
4) Turn entrepreneurship into a confidence lab.
Small projects (selling a product, starting a club, building an app) teach problem‑solving, resilience, and ownership.
5) Build a support circle.
Coaches, teachers, parents, mentors—when they communicate, youth feel less alone and more understood.
6) Celebrate effort, not just results.
Praise consistency, learning, and courage. This builds a growth mindset, not perfectionism.
7) Know when to get professional help.
If you notice persistent changes in mood, sleep, appetite, or withdrawal, reach out to a mental‑health professional early.
Healthy mind, fulfilled life!

We’re connecting 600,000 more Ontarians to care, the next step in our $3.4 billion Primary Care Action Plan to connect everyone to primary care by 2029.
Today’s announcement builds on our investment last year in Southlake Academic Family Health Team, which has already connected 3,475 people to care, closer to home.

Yesterday the Federal Government announced that new oil sands facilities and gas-fired electricity plants will no longer be regulated under C-69. These projects will now be left to the provinces to regulate and approve.
This fulfills a promise made by the Federal Government to Alberta in our MOU implementation agreement signed previously.
This reform will decrease costly duplication and regulatory uncertainty. It will also help our energy and electricity sectors attract investment and grow.
C-69 still needs to be either repealed or amended further to fully respect provincial autonomy and reduce regulatory uncertainty - and we will continue to pursue our case in front of Alberta’s Court of Appeal to help facilitate these needed changes.
However, there is also no doubt that today’s decision by the federal government is yet another needed step in the right direction for Alberta and all of Canada 🍁
Celebrating My Eldest Brother at 75
Today, 30th August 2026, I celebrate my eldest brother, Dominic Ositadimma Obi, who turns 75. I celebrate him not merely because he is my elder brother or because of his age, but because he is an exemplary human being.
When I was Governor of Anambra State for eight years, he never came to my office or the Governor’s Lodge for a day seeking favours, as many might have expected. He is a planner and contractor who builds homes for people, yet not once did he ask me for a government contract.
Whenever we met, he would warmly embrace me and tell me that he was fine. He would then solemnly remind me to keep doing what I promised the people and never bring a bad name to the family and my community. He would tell me that whatever difficulties he was going through, many others were worse off, and that I should do my best for society.
I later came to understand that this was not peculiar to him alone. My family members had actually held a meeting and resolved that none of them would take advantage of my position as Governor. They decided that whatever good name I was building for the Obi family and Agulu must be protected. The same principle extended to my children.
Today, at 75, my beloved brother remains deeply concerned about Nigeria. Whenever we speak, he is full of prayers and good wishes. He constantly reminds me that if I have the opportunity to serve Nigeria, I should do so with honesty, integrity, and the interest of the people at heart.
Brother Dom, I thank God for the gift of your life and for the example you have set for our family. Your integrity, humility, contentment, and sense of responsibility are qualities worthy of celebration.
May God Almighty, who has graciously been with you all these years, grant you good health, His abundant grace, and blessings.
Happy 75th birthday, my dearest brother. -PO
Alberta is not going to leave $10 trillion dollars in the ground. Not a chance.
The west coast oil pipeline will create hundreds of thousands of jobs, generate hundreds of billions for roads, schools and hospitals, and keep our taxes amongst the lowest in the developed world. Here’s how 👇
Please share this with those who have questions about Alberta’s plan to build the new west coast pipeline.
Kelly: My husband, we were in Canada. He got sick. He was in the emergency room three days. His bill was $800 for three days. We could not do that in the USA, being in the emergency room three days and only $800.
Jennings: I think describing the Canadian system where people wait weeks and weeks or months and months and months for very basic health care procedures, you do not want that here. I promise you.

Six months ago, I pushed for Ontario to modernize water and wastewater systems — and we got unanimous support. 💧🏡
In the Bill 98 debate, I spoke about why this change is essential to unlocking housing and helping our communities grow.

Today in Brampton, Prime Minister @MarkJCarney joined Brampton MPs to announce $64 million in federal funding for the new Embleton Community Centre.
The largest community centre ever to be built in Brampton, this 175,000-square-foot facility will feature a pool, gymnasium, fitness centre, childcare facility, as well as a variety of community spaces and outdoor recreational amenities.
This funding is part of the $50 billion Build Communities Strong Fund, helping deliver the infrastructure Canadians rely on as our communities grow.
Congratulations to Mon Sheong Foundation on the grand opening of its new location in Whitchurch-Stouffville. A wonderful milestone that will strengthen care and community services for local families.
I was proud to join Eco Guardian this week to announce Ontario’s support for a major manufacturing investment right here in Aurora.
Our government is providing $1.5 million through the Regional Development Program’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) Stream to support Eco Guardian’s $11.6 million expansion—a project that will create 42 new jobs, retain 18 jobs, and strengthen our local supply chain by producing paper-based food packaging solutions right here at home.
Eco Guardian’s decision to grow in Aurora reinforces what we already know: Ontario is one of the best places in the world to grow a manufacturing business. Anil said it best: this investment validates their vision and ensures they can take their work to the next level.
Proud to see this kind of innovation and job creation happening in our community. 💙
It was wonderful to join Suzanne Haines at the Aurora Cultural Centre today to announce nearly $70,000 in provincial support through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund and the Ontario Creates Music Investment Fund.
This investment helps grow Aurora’s music programming, attract visitors from across Ontario, and support the revival of the Aurora Winter Blues Festival—a beloved event returning after its pause during the pandemic.
Thank you to Suzanne and the entire team for their incredible work in strengthening arts and culture in our community.
The festival kicks off tonight and runs all weekend—come out and enjoy an amazing musical experience right here in Aurora! 🎶💙
It was wonderful to join the community at the Aurora Seniors Centre yesterday to celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Huayan Aurora Multicultural Association.
A great moment of tradition, culture, and togetherness — bringing warm wishes for a joyful and prosperous Year of the Horse.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and performers for hosting such a vibrant celebration!
Honored to host our 3rd Annual Non-Profit Appreciation Event in celebration of Ontario’s Non-Profit Appreciation Week.
It was inspiring to bring together more than 40 local organizations—from youth services and cultural groups to mental health supports, senior programs, arts organizations, and community aid providers. This gathering is a reminder of the compassion, dedication, and community spirit that make Newmarket–Aurora so strong.
Thank you to every organization that joined us, to Glenn Marais for the wonderful music, and to The Lounge by the George for hosting.
Our nonprofits are the backbone of our community. Your commitment and service uplift Newmarket–Aurora every single day. Grateful to celebrate you.
