Days until #LSU Football: 94 🐅
Highlighting two iconic forces of the defensive trenches who wore No. 94 with pride:
Anthony “Booger” McFarland (@ESPNBooger) (1995–98) - An absolute wrecking ball in the middle from Winnsboro, LA, McFarland finished his stellar career with 249 tackles and 17 sacks, earning first-team All-American honors in 1998. He was a first-round draft pick and won two Super Bowl rings with Tampa Bay and Indianapolis. He is now a prominent NFL analyst.
Marquise Hill (2001–03) - The New Orleans native was a dominant, towering force on the edge of LSU’s 2003 National Championship team. He recorded 108 tackles and 10 sacks, including a crucial one against Oklahoma in the title game. Hill was drafted by the New England Patriots and earned a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XXXIX. He passed away in May 2007 in a jet ski accident on Lake Pontchartrain, but not before an act of extraordinary courage: he kept his friend calm in the water until she could reach a buoy, saving her life.
On this date in 1925, a headache became history.
When Wally Pipp asked to sit out the game, @Yankees manager Miller Huggins turned to his bench and penciled in Lou Gehrig at first base.
The Iron Horse held the job for 14 consecutive seasons. https://t.co/IXB1NnMb6o
“I might have been given a bad break, but I’ve got an awful lot to live for.” - Lou Gehrig
Today we honor the life and legacy of The Iron Horse as we continue the fight against ALS. #LouGehrigDay
