Every Memorial Day, my thoughts return to three amazing men - Ohio soldiers whom I served with and who died in Iraq. SGT Mike Barkey, SFC Dan Crabtree and 1LT Charles Wilkins. Taking a moment today so that all of us know how much you meant to the Army, our state and our country.

Parents become ill and pass. It might be hard to imagine when you're young, but (and I've experienced it already) some years, you attend more funerals than weddings or baby showers. Children bring joy -- and a reminder of just how beautiful life can be -- as you see the world afresh through their eyes.
