@Wolfnexus2003 We are talking about masked characters. Storm has nothing to do with this conversation at all. Terry is from the future. I guess that makes sense. I don't really care about Batman Beyond though.
Folks are learning that the more realistic and 3D a character looks, the dumber white eyes look.
This is why hyper-realistic artists like Alex Ross and Lee Bermejo draw the eyes (and Neal Adams would draw eyes in close-ups)
@GBLapras They just did it Wolverine (in a movie with Deadpool!) and you didn't mention it because it didn't look good. You went to Deadpool and Spider-Man instead.
@Freako____ Deadpool has his mouth covered. Part of why fake eyes look so stupid is when they are paired with a real mouth. It's funny how people will point to Deadpool, yet totally ignore Wolverine with white eyes in the same exact movie. Probably because they know it didn't look good.
@GBLapras I'll always prefer seeing a human actor working their craft with their eyes rather than have it being erased and drawn over by a computer. That could be Batman or any other character without a full face mask.
@AFC_J0se It's a mixed bag. Volume 2 is the Riddler story and it's pretty good. Volume 3 is a Two-Face story with a twist. It's definitely a step down from the previous two.
๐ฆThe Batman (2022) has one major comic book influence and it's Earth One by Geoff Johns & Gary Frank
A young, flawed Batman goes from "vengeance" to hope. A Riddler bomber who enjoys coffee. Martha Arkham. An abandoned subway Batcave, and so much more!
The definitive thread๐งต
@GBLapras With CGI eyes instead of a real actor's performance? No thanks. The solution is like Mr. Terrific in Superman, only use the lenses if a specific scene calls for it.

@Peyj6 Yes, the white eyes were basically just an artistic shortcut that became part of the character. It's like how black hair would have blue shading because of the limited color pallete.

One example of Neal Adams showing eyeballs. He understood when it was important to show the eyes for the purpose of expression and to clarify the direction in which the character is looking.
