I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true:
— As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable.
— Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.)
— A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused.
— In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.”
— In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety.
— In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community.
— The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority.
— Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.
Breaking: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy was among the tech leaders who raised concerns to senior Trump officials this week re: security risks in Anthropic's newest models.
Those convos set in motion the government's new export controls on foreign national access to Mythos and Fable.
Proud to have been selected for the @USNavy Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) Marketplace at-sea demonstration.
As the Navy advances towards realizing the vision of a Golden Fleet, autonomous systems will be critical to extending reach, increasing capacity, and delivering maritime capability at scale.
Our Marauder MUSV has already begun on-water trials, and we look forward to showcasing the mission-ready capabilities that autonomous systems can deliver to the fleet.

Congratulations to the @Saronic team for that amazing rescue earlier this week! It was a great day for their company and our country. I'm proud to be an investor and supporter of this amazing team. 🇺🇸
The U.S. military confirmed that a Saronic Corsair was used in the first-of-its-kind rescue operation following the downing of a U.S. Army helicopter.
At Saronic, we build autonomous vessels to extend capability into the most demanding and dangerous environments. Knowing Corsair could play a role in helping bring our service members home safely is exactly why we build.
Proud to support the men and women of the U.S. armed forces — and grateful to the team that made it possible. 🇺🇸
Two US aviators went down near the Strait of Hormuz. DoW used an autonomous @Saronic Corsair to find and bring them home - the 1st drone rescue at sea in military history.
This is why we build: to keep our troops safe. This was science fiction. American builders made it real 🇺🇸.
The first documented use of an autonomous vessel to rescue soldiers in a combat zone. Wild. And coincidentally I was touring their facility in Austin this past weekend. It’s an amazing company. Defense tech is moving fast and opening up all sorts of new possibilities.

Incredibly cool to hear about the involvement of @Saronic's Corsair unmanned surface vessel in the search & rescue operation for the downed Apache crew in the Strait of Hormuz.
This is the way.
Today, @Saronic announced its $1.75B Series D, at a $9.25B valuation.
Four years ago, @JTlonsdale, Alex Moore, and the 8VC team were exploring a new defense prime. Across the Hill and Pentagon, our DC partners were sounding alarms about America’s maritime future.
We enlisted remarkable leaders, headlined by @MavrookasD (frmr Navy Seal) and @Vbob202 (frmr 8VC Fellow/Anduril), and we started building. The result was Saronic.
Hundreds of vessels and 1000+ crew members later, the shipyards are humming, and the age of naval autonomy is underway.
The dead speak!
This grotesque tweet from the tyrant’s account does a great job of making Israel’s case for them. The regime has no intention of enriching uranium for peaceful purposes.
At this point the entire Iranian leadership is just three Mossad agents who don’t know about each other, so they keep on playing the game.
(Joke from Israel just now)
BREAKING: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will speak within minutes, Iran’s Al-Alam TV reported.
