It is not a good idea to treat political office like the kind of job where experience is a detriment.
I’m not saying that politics is the only relevant experience, but candidates for the upper levels (governors, president, state legislative leadership, US Senate) should have solid resumes. Both parties should work diligently to recruit nerds, number crunchers, mathematicians, policy wonks, polyglots, legal experts, researchers, engineers, & scientists to run and contribute their ideas and experience.
We need to stop treating shouting loudly, being rude and obnoxious, and going viral online as the equivalent of actually having good ideas.
Think about your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors. Who would you trust to watch your kids or pets? Who would you trust with a spare key to your house? Who would you trust to manage your finances? Let’s elect people that evoke those sorts of feelings rather than just who yelled and insulted the other side in a way that made a punchy tik tok caption.
Make. Politics. Boring. Again.

@Oliver9LH@JoelKatz Congress can easily change Section 230 if Congress wishes. And Obama can argue for that idea. But he's not. He's arguing for speech regulation.
And Sect. 230 is about liability. Zero liability attaches to hate speech or speech we don't like.
Yes, let's empower the government ensure that the media only presents one version of the facts. There's no way that could ever backfire.
The irony is that this is coming from someone who right now has an extremely different view of a large number of facts compared to the view of the current administration!
@bobsalpha1@ForecasterEnten We are in this strange era of weirdos running for office.
People are so bored with the material success of Western liberalism. They want excitement in whatever form. It's amusing, but awful.
@Oliver9LH@CptTedStriker@Acyn The white trash has always been with us. They were just in the woodwork where they belong.
Eventually, they will be put back.
@CptTedStriker@Acyn The United States is better than all other those nations combined precisely because we share a powerful creed, not a mere skin color.
Sorry, goober.
Ossoff: This is what small men like Donald Trump and JD Vance and Stephen Miller will never understand—that our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes, but through our ideas.
Americans are not a race, we're a people united not by ethnicity, but by our shared convictions, and that is what makes us exceptional
@RobGeorge I say the Knicks have a better shot against the Spurs. I can't believe I am rooting for a New York City sports team. It's all about Brunson. He will forever look to me like a normal guy just out on Sunday playing pickup ball, somehow making shot after shot. I love to watch it.
Kearny AZ "was given just 77 acre-feet this year, a fraction of the 280 acre-feet it typically uses. Kearny asked residents to cut their water use by 30%, banned watering lawns and washing cars, drained its public pool and let Little League fields go brown." https://t.co/imTTZgMTm1
@PhilWMagness Bertrand Russell refutes Marxism as just a dumb materialist rehash of Christianity.
Yahweh: Dialectial Materialism
The Messiah: Marx
The Elect: The Proletariat
The Church: Communist Party
The Second Coming: The Revolution
Hell: Punishment of Capitalists
The Millennium: Communism
I want to thank Senator John Cornyn for his years representing our state.
We don’t agree on everything, but we both still believe in public service.
To Senator Cornyn’s supporters: you have a place in our campaign.
@bendreyfuss Even if you don't have the capacity to cook, you probably live in a city if you use DoorDash, or you probably have a car if you live somewhere smaller.
You could go and buy prepared food and immediately cut your cost by about one-third.
Just thinking out loud here, youngsters.
