Eric Perdison

@WFP Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa. #SavingLives & #ChangingLives (views mine)

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

From rich minerals to fertile lands capable of feeding the continent, Eastern and Southern #Africa’s long-standing crises are being intensified by the overlapping effects of conflict, economic strain, and climate shocks.

Lives are at stake. We must #ActNow.

This #WorldFoodDay2026, innovation is helping turn technology into action.

Even where there’s no network, @WFP is using digital tools to support operations across #Zimbabwe, helping teams reach the right people with food assistance when and where it’s needed most.

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

There’s something powerful about seeing a child’s meal begin in a school garden.

I find hope in seeing @WFP Goodwill Ambassador @PatsonDaka20 share a meal with learners in #Zambia.

School gardens grow more than food. They nurture potential and brighter futures.

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

A pleasure to welcome @WFP Country Directors from across Eastern & Southern #Africa & Rome leaders to Nairobi for our Regional Management Team meeting.

3 days of shared learning & solutions reaffirmed our commitment to excellence & impact in an increasingly complex environment.

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

Some places don’t just change your perspective. They challenge you to double down.

My time with the amazing @WFP #Madagascar team and communities in the south reminded me: the solutions exist.

Now we must do ours:
-Act with urgency
-Scale what works
-Invest in local solutions

[WFP Zimbabwe @WFP_Zimbabwe]

Droughts, floods, and other shocks are no longer rare events. They have become a reality of everyday life for millions. But what happens after a shock is what truly matters.

🔴"The challenges facing South Sudan are far greater than any one organisation can address alone."

As leaders gather at #UNGA81, WFP's @Ericperd describes what he saw in Renk and Malakal and why the world should not look away, as hunger rises & resources shrink.
📺

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

I left #SouthSudan with one message: the world cannot look away.

Families displaced. Hunger rising. Resources shrinking.

Humanitarian assistance is vital. But South Sudan needs more: peace, opportunity and investment in its people.

We must #ActNow.

[WFP Somalia @WFPSomalia]

Thanks to @OCHAFunds through #UNCERF for its generous US$1.4 million contribution to WFP Somalia’s drought response. This critical support will provide life-saving cash assistance to 32,268 people facing severe food insecurity in the Bay Region.

[World Food Programme @WFP]

The failed rainy season in #Uganda has left over 600,000 people food insecure in the Karamoja region alone.

WFP-supported assistance, delivered before the drought peaked, has helped families buy food and cushion themselves against the worst impacts.

As #ElNino now worsens conditions, teams are scaling assistance to help families cope.

[WFP Ethiopia @WFP_Ethiopia]

Happy #WorldHumanitarianDay!

Today, @WFP celebrates the dedication of humanitarian workers across Ethiopia & around the world.

Every day, humanitarians work alongside communities to meet urgent needs & strengthen resilience.

Thank you for all that you do.

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we honour the humanitarians, @WFP colleagues, donors, partners and communities keeping hope alive.

Across Eastern and Southern #Africa, we act before crises strike and after they unfold, preparing, protecting and helping communities recover.

[Eric Perdison @Ericperd]

It’s heartbreaking to see people who have already lost so much now at risk of losing the support they rely on to survive.

We cannot look away. Action is needed now.

#BREAKING | A hunger crisis is looming for Refugees in #SouthSudan

📍#SouthSudan | What happens when food assistance stops?

Families skip meals. Children leave school. Productive assets are sold. Women & children face greater risks of exploitation and abuse.

"This is not a future scenario. It will happen within weeks." - Adham Efendi @UNGeneva
