@MarioNawfal In public finance and using the accrual methods of the Federal government, unliquidated balances are DEBT. Liquidating those debts means paying off the debt. More precisely, this means that the Federal government has received services already, without an expenditure recorded.
@UHTspotlight@FriendsMissRiv@CityMinneapolis Park Supervisor John Anfinson was present at CPC public meeting in Park Service uniform representing both the Federal government and Friends as a Board Member. When queried, he denies any connection to Friends of the Mississippi. Interesting, since it's a conflict of interest.
@UHTspotlight@NewRulesNorth Thanks! It always walks a fine line when the Chairman of a committee appears in other forums in that it might be construed to represent the sentiments of the CPC. Glad there was no such representation.
@UHTspotlight@NewRulesNorth Since Alexis is the Chair and Mary is a member of the Collaborative Planning Committee, is this an officially sanctioned meeting of the City's Collaborative Planning Committee? This meeting would require public notification through the City, doesn't it?
@UHTspotlight As a Northsider, there are many features of gentrification I like: bike paths, coffee shops, new services, daycare. You're misappropriating "gentrification" and trying to shortchange Northsiders from having nice things, from a point of privilege. Target "displacement" instead.
@UHTspotlight@FirstAvenue The poster fails to understand regional economic development. The venue is but a flagship for a cluster of businesses, that create small businesses and jobs to Northside residents. There is no $20M subsidy. False argument Spotlight.
@UHTspotlight@FirstAve This is an inaccurate statement because bonds are public borrowings, which are repaid through taxes on ticket receipts from the venue. A vast part of government is funded through bond issuances, including parks, which taxpayers repay through increasing property assessments.
