What Trevor Ombija said was beyond the pale … it’s truly sad that a young person would want to win votes by concocting falsehoods to whip up Luo hatred of Kikuyu! He even tribalized a media station that gave him a public platform. I have always said you don’t throw your first employer under the bus! In attempting to create Luo-Kikuyu animosity, Ombija sank to the Hades!
Still on how expensive Uber can get at the Coast.
I ordered an UberX from Nyali to Diani and got slapped with 5,000 bob charge on my card bruh.
For perspective, Nairobi, CBD to Thika/Makongeni would probably come in at under 3,000 bob and that’s a pretty serious distance too.
Anyway, the Dongo Kundu Bypass is a beautiful thing.
Every voice counts. Every show of support matters. Let’s come together, support Milele Beach Hotel and keep the fight for its future alive. #SaveMilele
The High Court has ordered Safaricom and DTB to pay a customer Ksh. 4.42 million that was fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account following a SIM swap fraud. The customer reported the unauthorized SIM swap to Safaricom immediately, but before the issue was resolved, fraudsters accessed her DTB mobile banking account and transferred Ksh. 4,418,601 through a series of unauthorized transactions.
Both Safaricom and DTB appealed after the lower court found them jointly liable, with each arguing that the other was solely responsible for the loss. The High Court dismissed both appeals, holding that each organization owed its own independent duty of care to the customer and could not escape liability by shifting blame to the other.
The Court found that Safaricom failed to adequately prevent and respond to the unauthorized SIM swap, while DTB failed to detect and stop suspicious high-value transactions despite obvious red flags. It upheld the lower court's decision, ordering Safaricom to bear 60% of the loss and DTB 40%, reaffirming that organizations handling personal data and digital financial services must take proactive steps to protect customers from fraud.
This is disturbing.
Someone has reached out to me from Kisangani, Congo.
A Kenyan truck driver (KDJ 040C, Atlas Mar Co) was allegedly killed, his body dumped in the bush and left there for over 4 days, decomposing.
Yes four days.. The body is just a few metres from there
No response. No urgency. No dignity from anyone including in Congo.
Is the family even aware? Does the company know? Or has he just been forgotten?
If you know anything about the last driver who was using this truck or company, speak up. Share this.
And we must start asking hard questions, why are Kenyan drivers increasingly becoming targets in Congo?
This silence is unacceptable.
In 2002, I bought my Safaricom line.
Ksh 2499.
I still use it.
It came in a metallic tin, with a booklet (a user manual), and a template for the SIM card.
It was preset on the Taifa Tariff.
Ksh 36 per minute billing during peak, and Ksh 27 per minute billing during off-peak.
Per-minute billing means that even if you talk for 32 seconds, you will be charged the per-minute rate.
At that time, KENCELL (later CELTEL, then ZAIN and now AIRTEL) was everyone's favourite carrier.
Safaricom was struggling to attract subscribers due to KENCELL's awkward commercials that portrayed Safaricom's network as sluggish and chaotic.
But, 2 months later, Safaricom reduced the price of its SIM cards to Ksh 99.
I almost went mad after spending KSH 2499 just two months earlier.
There were massive lines in Safaricom shops in Nairobi and Nakuru.
Nakuru, Kenyatta Avenue, next to Merica Hotel, was impassable for 1 week. There was a Safaricom shop there, and later a Samchi Telecom shop.
A lot of people had bought phones and kept them at home, especially Motorola T190 and Siemens C35, because they couldn't afford SIM cards or the cost of making calls.
A Motorola T190 was selling at KSH 17,999.
A Siemens C35 was selling at 11,499.
Safaricom immediately began selling locked mobile phones that could be used only with Safaricom SIM cards.
Later that year, Kibaki was overwhelmingly elected president, and his regime liberalised the telecommunications industry, and we began advancing in telecommunications technology.
We have come from far!
Your life has stagnated because in your heart and stomach, you burn with jealousy when you see others succeed.
Your projects have failed, not because of resource limitations but because you are angry, jealous and dismissive of others who are making small progress.

It was a moment when Kenya lost an enigma.
It was also a moment when Edwin Sifuna lost a political mentor.
Edwin Sifuna loved Raila Odinga deeply and stood by him with unwavering loyalty and respect.
It is ONLY Edwin Sifuna who can fulfill Baba Raila Odinga's dream of a better Kenya.
We should advocate to have every major hospitals have good morgues.
This will ease the pressure at City Mortuary.
Morgue attendants needs to be continuously trained in handling of our departed loved ones whether known or unknown.
When you look at a pile of rotting bodies at Nairobi City Mortuary then you realize that our bodies are so "useless" and scary garbage when we die and dumped without care. I am advocating for the rights of unknown dead bodies at Nairobi City Mortuary. Let us treat them hata with the smallest chemical, let us accord them some little dignity. What I saw yesterday was traumatizing.

RURALISM:
Rural-bred people leave their rural homes to go seek better opportunities in the city.
Once they access the power structures in the city, they destroy the philosophy, aesthetics, and cultures of the city.
They want to drive modern SUVs and wear expensive designer clothes, shoes, and apparel while still stuck in their rural mentality.
That is why you see them wear expensive suits that still have price tags on them.
— Or you see rural-bred women wear expensive clothes and shoes that don't match their body frame and end up looking like scarecrows.
When they are elected as city politicians or appointed as senior government officials, they promote thuggery, disorder, and chaos in the city.
They grew up in the scarcity rural mindset while envying their city colleagues.
For example, you saw it in high school how rural-bred prefects hated "Nairobians."
So, when these rural bred people go to the city, their rural brains refuse to be congruent with the philosophy of city life.
It is them who flout traffic rules, litter refuse recklessly, cause noise in the estates, and engage in crime.
If you were born in a rural society like me, once you earn something from the city, leave the city for city-bred people.
Go back to your rural community and be their beacon of hope.
Don't destroy the city with your ruralism. Let the city dwellers build their city.
