Congratulations to 16 year old Christina Rach on making history as the first female Eritrean swimmer to represent her nation in the Olympics.
Not a bad start for this young woman who has such a bright future. Finishing second in her heat at 27.20 in the 50 meter Freestyle is a great result.
Now please some posts within our community are indicating that she advanced to the next round and that is wrong information. In order to advance to the semifinals you must have one of the better times from the overall group of 79 swimmers. Only the best 16 swimmers make it to the next round.
Christina took second in her heat only one second behind the first place in her heat who did not make it to the next round either. This is the Olympic system that is used to minimize the number of athletes down to the best athletes utilizing the heat system. It is also used for track and field and other events.
Christina is an amazing swimmer and I can see her doing something big and every Eritrean should be proud of her. She has represented her nation with dignity and pride and I am sure that she will play a huge role in the development of swimming as a sport in Eritrea. Out of the close to 80 swimmers Christina ended up at the half way mark and that is not a bad start in your Olympics debut at a young age of 16. #Parigi2024 #ERITREA 🇪🇷

#Eritrea: Bini is already the winner, in mathematical terms, of the Green Jersey of the Tour de France 2024 although he needs to finish safely the last segment of the current Stage 20, and tomorrow’s Individual Time Trials (ITT). Still, will defer Greatest Formal Celebrations of the Historic Victory until the precise moment!
#Eritrea: Another Great Day in Bini’s phenomenal achievements at Tour de France 2024. Bini retains Green Jersey at completion of Penultimate Race (Stage 19) today before Nice tomorrow. We are almost there - the final goalpost is already within reach!
President Isaias Afwerki received this morning, at his Office in Adi Halo, Eritrean National Team Athletes who will compete at the Paris Olympic Games scheduled to start next week.
President Isaias reiterated his firm belief that Eritrea will indeed produce some of the best international athletes both in quantity and quality in various fields of sports.
In this context, President Isaias underlined the imperative of working at the grassroots level; the need to put in place requisite infrastracture & facilities throughout the nation; and to bolster efforts to expand the scope - currently confined to few areas - to all fields of sports. Organizing continuous competitions in all the Regions of the country will be vital for producing athletes with the caliber & potential to compete & succeed in several international sporting events, President Isaias stressed.
The President expressed his best wishes for success to the athletes that will compete in the Paris- 2024 Olympics emphasing the moral incentive that this would imbue to young and upcoming fellow sportsmen and sportswomen.
#Eritrea will field 11 athletes in cyclng, swimming and athletics at the Paris-2024 Olympic Games.
#Eritrea: Good Read: 111-year barrier, broken in 12 days! by Natnael Yebio
"This is a seismic shift in the world of professional cycling... Bini is not merely winning Stages; he is captivating the imagination of millions who had yearned to see African Stage winners in the Tour de Frane, who share the Continent's heritage and embody its dreams".

Wow @GrmayeBiniam is so instinctual. Im on the edge of my seat thinking, "Lets go Bini" and as he takes his time, he turns it on, and poof another win. Great job @IntermarcheW I hope everyone is ok
Today, during the #HRC56 the Chinese delegation called for vote and voted against the draft resolution L.16 on Eritrea. We oppose the politicization of human rights issues and imposition of so call special mandate without the consent of the countries concerned.
#Eritrea: HUGE CONGRATS TO ALL!
BINIAM WINS 12TH STAGE OF TOUR DE FRANCE 2024! A HAT-TRICK OF STAGE WINS SO FAR.
THIS IS A RECORD-BREAKING ACHIEVEMENT IN MANY RESPECTS...
ANOTHER GREAT DAY FOR #ERITREANCYCLING AND #AFRICANCYCLING

... @LeTour @IntermarcheW Can someone please fix the Eritrean flag being used by the #TDF2024 ... Not the right colors or wreath.
This is akin to using a US Flag with only 40 stars.
Flags have meanings, and the meaning is lost when using the incorrect Eritrean flag.
