Alamo’s backstory isn’t just a masterpiece because of the cinematic quality or the aesthetic presentation, it’s a masterpiece because it explains perfectly why Alamo became the type of man he is as an adult in Euphoria. Everything about his personality suddenly makes complete sense afterward.

His own mother betrayed him and took away the one man he genuinely loved, respected, and looked up to, his stepfather, who happened to be a genuinely good person and probably the closest thing Alamo ever had to a real role model.

That’s why it makes sense why he carries so much anger toward women and why he’s extremely guarded emotionally whenever he feels manipulated or “played.” His own mother emotionally played him as a child, and that kind of trauma permanently changes the way someone views trust, love, and relationships. Trauma is very real.

And honestly, the backstory was easily the best part of the episode for me.
