@burkov Whoa, people in replies really want to lecture a fellow skeptic on shallow theology, huh?
My wife is a scientist and a believer. But it comes with price: she keeps her belief in a separate register and interpret god as a inspiring force for ethics, more than a deity.

People saying Wikipedia is wrong because it does not endorse 'objective facts' like IQ racism just shows how hard it is to find common ground for reasoning.
I think Elon is unhappy that Wikipedia is not for sale. I hope his campaign to defund us results in lots of donations from people who care about the truth. If Elon wanted to help, he'd be encouraging kind and thoughtful intellectual people he agrees with to engage.

Bring in the data!
@ChrisCrandall19@GregoryFaletto If we want to teach inferential stats without the math, whatever that is, then concepts like sample and population, estimator and estimate becomes paramount! We can address then in a less formal setting, for sure.
@ChrisCrandall19@GregoryFaletto We are talking about different aims: I mean the ability to adequately interpret quantitative results of scientific research, while the paper you quote is about overall heuristics for inferential reasoning. Not mutually exclusive, but for one the math is of much less concern.

@ChrisCrandall19@GregoryFaletto Although I agree, this begs the question: should we bother teaching inferential stats to psych undergrads? This distinction underpins why we care about those magic numbers reported on papers and heuristics here have driven us astray more often than not.
@camjpatrick The wording here is important, though. Learning that the probability statement applies to the estimator rather than the estimate is crucial in frequentist statistics. "Before the data are collected" is also poor wording - are you working with a post. dist. or another function?
