Come join us in Acadia to discuss what exgal paradigms are being most tested right now (and how do we move forward) alongside critical discussions in how (and who we let) do astronomy in the first place!

P-CAST talk today in two hours! Erini Lambrides will tell us about "Un-obscuring Obscuration in z>4 AGN with PRIMA" Information on how to join here: https://t.co/eHqfTPBZYS
Alert! we're organizing to help folks in astronomy + planetary sciences who've lost their jobs without warning, or have important DEIA initiatives that suddenly lost funding please share with your networks!! #extragalactic#exoplanets#astronomy#cosmology
MUTUAL AID ALERT: Stand with our community in Astro+ adjacent fields impacted by the attack on DEIA, support our community by giving aid through our GoFundMe. See links in thread!

Applications open January 15th, and we especially encourage applications from folks at SLACs, PUIs, HBCUs, and/or tribal colleges; graduate students and postdocs from marginalized backgrounds; and anyone who works on topics in the local Universe that have implications for high-z
Even the PROSECUTOR asked for Marcellus Williams’ conviction to be vacated but he is still scheduled to be executed next week, despite DNA evidence.
I’m so tired of having to fight for innocent Black lives but I’m even more tired of losing them.
ANYWAY, super stoked to see what @chandraxray will tell us on one of the widest and now deeper X-ray fields, and even more excited to see the unique synergy our team and the rest of the community will bring by combining these observations with other telescopes like JWST and ALMA
Especially in my field, growing super massive black holes are a multi-wavelengths, no ONE wavelength regime can answer all our questions and thus no ONE wavelength regime can be missing from our toolkit. 5/n
Until a suitable replacement is launched (i.e sufficient sensitivity AND spatial resolution), turning off @chandraxray and effectively closing @NASA 's X-ray eyes on the distant Universe, we will set back the extragalactic community for decades to come. 4/n
As a user and PI of proposals across the entirety of the multi-wavelength spectrum, including JWST, we still NEED @chandraxray open for observations to continue pushing forward the frontiers of black hole science - especially in the first half of the Universe 3/n
Our beloved @chandraxray is 25 yrs old BUT that doesn't stop her from still performing critical science that ONLY Chandra can do in answering some of the deepest mysteries of black hole growth across cosmic time (amongst many other things) 2/n
Let's go! Super excited we got 1.6 million seconds of Chandra time to go deeper on the central region of the COSMOS-Web field. Feeling especially greatful to folks at the @chandraxray center/CfA for working tirelessly to keep Chandra operating for at least one more year 1/n
