It took me a really long time to learn that intentionally avoiding traumatic stimuli -- like the Tyre Nichols footage -- doesn't mean I'm not down with the cause. ๐งต1/4
While I keep the tv off, I still feel the stress and pain that remind me that the world is harmful to Black folks and I'm human. It took me a long time to relearn how to surrender to that humanity; not prove to myself or others that I'm the strong one. To feel things fully. 3/4
