Remembering Maple today - it was five years ago on this day we said goodbye, yet it still feels like yesterday. I miss you every day, Maple. What a wonderful world it was with you ❤️
@bigboidepressed@emkenobi she is emaciated. very few people simply look like that, and if they do, they would be in need of medical help too because something is wrong with their metabolism or hunger cues
@beyondf4ke@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly also would love to know your thoughts on how ignoring it isn't yet another confirmation to "keep fucking going." notoriously, it can be used as motivation to "get sicker" and i'm tired of you guys acting like it's not
@beyondf4ke@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly sorry but there are people with EDs on both sides of this argument and there's no one size fits all approach to how people should talk about these things. there is no guideline saying "never express concern"
@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly i really don't understand this form of coddling to enable self destructive behaviors. how can you pretend to care about someone and then say they look pretty while they're actively dying on stage? how is that not worse than expressing concern?
@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly reducing concerns for her wellbeing to “commenting on her body” is the least empathetic, caring, or feminist thing you could do in this situation. there’s a difference between saying “i don’t like the way this person looks” and “this is scary and not normal, she needs help”
@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly of course it's going to hurt someone's feelings if people point out something hard to confront. but imagine if everyone ignored it instead. we can visibly see how tired and exhausted she looks, she's pushing herself, it's scary. karen carpenter was her age when she passed
@bluev4lentine@sunbleachfly everyone should express concern over the normalization of eating disorders. we don't want her to die. we also don't want impressionable people following the same path.
