I sincerely doubt if there has ever been a nation with so little resources, possessing huge resilience, tenacity & farsightedness, that attracted the wrath & begrudging of so many global powers over the last Century like #Eritrea. #EritreaPreavails
#Eritrea's Delegation led by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh met, yesterday in Washington, with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ms. Allison Hooker, and, the Assistant Secretary for Africa, Mr. Frank Garcia ,respectively.
In the meeting with the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Minister Osman welcomed the removal of unilateral sanctions which must be seen as a positive and vital step for turning a new page in Eritrea-US relations.
Eritrea's objective is to create the basis for constructive, mutually beneficial, and genuine partnership in the period ahead. The new chapter should enable us to recoup missed opportunities; pivot towards enhancement of trade and investment; as well as explore and leverage new prospects for genuine partnership that eschews structural dependency, FM Osman stressed.
Minister Osman also referred to the need for further review of unwarranted policies of pressure pursued by previous Administrations. He elaborated on Eritrea's modest and constructive role in the promotion of peace, stability and security in its immediate and wider neighborhood which encompasses the Horn of Africa; the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden; the Nile Basin, and the Wider Gulf Region. The Minister expressed Eritrea's earnest hope to cultivate collaborative efforts with the US in these ideals as well as in the mechanism of cooperation charted out by the littoral States.
The Under Secretary for Political Affairs, for her part, underlined that the lifting of sanctions stemmed from President Trump's commitment to nurture bilateral partnerships based on mutual benefits. This will contribute to the crystallization of warm ties of cooperation between the two countries. Ms. Hooker further remarked on the broad convergence of broad themes of cooperation envisaged by the two sides in these initial and preliminary meetings.
The meeting with the Assistant Secretary State, Mr. Frank Garcia, was likewise focused on broadly similar themes. The two sides agreed that future talks will focus on more profound and concrete consultations for the promotion of trade and investment; regional peace and stability, as well as resolution of pending matters through constructive dialogue.
Mr. Hagos Ghebrehiwet, Economic Advisor to the President of Eritrea, met Foreign Minister of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdelatty in Cairo today. The talks focused on advancing bilateral economic cooperation in line with the directives of both countries’ leaderships, including greater Egyptian private-sector participation in Eritrea’s energy, industry, infrastructure, trade and fisheries sectors.
Egypt reaffirmed its readiness to provide technical and training support and highlighted the upcoming Science Forum Africa (2–4 October) as a platform for African investment partnerships. Both sides agreed to continue close consultation on issues of mutual interest and regional stability.

Is Ethiopia as a centralized state finished? What replaces it—a negotiated federation, a patchwork of independent entities, or prolonged warlordism—depends on whether the TPLF, Fano, OLA, and others can agree on a new order. But one thing is clear to me: Abiy will not be part of it. His demise will be ugly, and he now seems a besieged leader who sees enemies everywhere.
Abiy came to power with promise and goodwill. He called it Medemer, promised unity, and pledged progress through the Prosperity Party. Instead, he presides over internal wars, fragmentation, and the growing danger of Balkanization.
His main betrayal was signing the Pretoria Agreement—making peace with the TPLF and turning against former allies, including Fano. He became a new emperor demanding “sovereign access” to the Red Sea, threatening Eritrea, and signing the Somaliland MOU that brought confrontation with Somalia. He became a conduit for Israel and the UAE and attacked Sudan, leaving it in ruins. His relationships with Eritrea, Sudan, Egypt, and Somalia deteriorated.
Now, years of failures have given rise to internal conflicts against united adversaries stronger than him. So he blames the neighbors—Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea.
Thus Abiy is witnessing the inevitable transition and transformation of a nation, similar to the collapse of the Soviet Union under Gorbachev.

A few years back, Getachew Reda was asked, “How long can Abiy possibly stay in power?” His answer was once again eerily candid. He described Abiy as a “bandit who got power by mistake,” and said that while we are defending Tigray, if doing so also shortened Abiy’s time in power, “so be it.”
#Eritrea: Statement by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh at high-level plenary meeting on addressing the existential threats posed by sea level rise
*"...Coastal States like Eritrea must diligently address the impacts of sea-level rise, as it poses a direct threat to our coastal communities, marine ecosystems, and development aspirations. It is, therefore, prudent to strengthen coastal adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, ecosystem protection, land-use planning, and early warning systems".
*"...Eritrea has put in place protective and conservatory measures. We are expanding marine and island protected areas, restoring coral reefs, mangroves, and coastal vegetation as natural climate buffers, and advancing a sustainable National Blue Economy strategy that safeguards marine resources while supporting local livelihoods".
*"...Eritrea emphasizes the need for stable maritime zones and guarantees for the sovereign rights of coastal States over their maritime spaces. Parts of Eritrea’s territory consist of low-lying and sandy coastal areas at constant risk from erosion. Eritrea therefore stresses that baselines and maritime boundaries are preserved and that the sovereign and jurisdictional rights of coastal States over their maritime spaces, in accordance with international law, are protected".
*"...Littoral States have a vital and indispensable role in securing and promoting a sustainable and stable maritime ecosystem".

When I first saw this clip, I dismissed it, thinking it was AI-generated. But it is real. This was an embarrassing slap in the face at the UN by @antonioguterres to Abiy and his stillborn sea-access adventurism, which is declared as breaking international law.
UNDERSTANDING THE UAE’S SUB-IMPERIAL AGENDA IN AFRICA
"The United Arab Emirates has emerged as a small imperialist country in the region," said former Ethiopian diplomat Mohamed Hassan, as he discussed the issues facing the Horn of Africa region with Sovereign Media's Ahmed Kaballo.
Hassan suggested that the UAE is looking to control all major ports along the African coastline and dominate Yemeni ports on the other side of the Red Sea, as part of its aim to engineer the biggest maritime empire in the world.
"It's a parasite system," Hassan declared, noting that the UAE was a nomadic country before "by accident of history" becoming very rich after the discovery of gas and oil.
Hassan connected the UAE's sub-imperial ambitions to the US-backed Abraham Accords that saw the UAE and Bahrain normalise relations with Isr*el.
"What the Emirates call tamadud in Arabic means expansionism...it is concentrated on the Horn of Africa and the purpose is to dismantle the Sudanese state," noted Hassan.
#Eritrea: Statement by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh at High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response
*"...Eritrea’s experience has shown the value of strong national ownership. Prevention and preparedness have been central to its health approach, supported by government leadership and community-based health systems. Its National Action Plan for Health Security further strengthens surveillance, emergency response and coordination".
*"...International cooperation should support, not replace, national capacity. It must also address the inequalities in technology, production and access that became so clear during COVID-19".
*"...The real measure of progress will be whether all countries are better able to protect their populations when the next health emergency comes".

With the lifting of U.S. sanctions, global business opportunities in Eritrea will be limitless.
Eritrea is a country you can't easily overlook; it has a 1,900 km coastline along the Red Sea, including 1,150 km along its shores and over 363 islands that add an additional 1,083 km of coastline. For the past 30 years, Eritrea has successfully managed its coastline without assistance from superpowers.
Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, and sending love from #Eritrea!
In characteristic fashion, Potemkin Party zealots are immersed in another, rather pitiful, round of malicious propaganda against Eritrea. This time round, the wicked plot revolves around the specter of "new and brewing hostilities" in the Group of Hanish Islands.
As it will be recalled:
- The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in the Hague rendered its sovereignty Award on the islands in 1998.
- Eritrea accepted the Award in accordance with the Agreement it had signed, and President Isaias Afwerki promptly sent a letter of reconciliation to his Yemeni counterpart (Ali Abdella Saleh). (It took Ethiopia 18 years to accept the PCA Arbitral Award on the Badme and environs dispute).
- Eritrea dismantled its military installations and withdrew its army units from the Hanish Islands three weeks after the Award although the provision stipulated for a latitude of three months .
- The dispute was thus settled with full restoration of warm bilateral ties thereafter.
Furthermore, what is odd in the PP's new line of propaganda, and that cannot be glossed over, is their clamoring few months ago when the UAE established an air strip in those islands (obviously with the acquiescence of the Yemeni Government). At the time, they saw this as "an asset and strategic depth" for the war that they have been contemplating against Eritrea.
