@GatorNationFBPC I'm curious if DW saw any similarities to that 1996 Tenn game. If you get a chance to ask him about it, I'd love to hear his thoughts. I was also there for the Choke at Doak but can't remember if we took our foot off the gas or played too aggressively. So, maybe you're right.

@GatorNationFBPC I agree, but he also knew that was his only chance. Otherwise, he could have played coverage and stopped our run without loading the box. It's not like we were gashing them. I think he knew his offense wasn't gonna win the game. His defense had to, so he dared us to throw.

@GatorNationFBPC I can buy your premise. Might have been too early to shut things down. But I don't think DM was coaching out of fear. I think he correctly calculated based on their quarterback deficiencies that if he played conservatively, our floor was already higher than their ceiling.

@GatorNationFBPC Another game theory nugget, Kirby didn't load the box in the second half because he knew DM would go conservative (i.e. run the ball), he did it because he wanted DM to be more aggressive (i.e. throw the ball). It brings in more variability to the outcome.

@GatorNationFBPC Love the show, guys! But I disagree with your assessment of DM's second half play calling. Game theory dictates you maximize your win %, not maximize points or the expected value of a play. Spurrier did the same thing in 1996 against Tenn (35-0 2Q, 35-29 Final)
