I am playing with an old motherboard, Abit KV-85. I does not recognize a SATA disk but a SATA DVD. I read that with old BIOSes, disks where not allowed to be big. It seems I have to change the BIOS if I want to continue playing with it.

Windows XP just hung when I tried to boot. The Windows 10 installation I tried also hung. I guess you can install Windows XP if you want and have a license.

Now it's interesting to see if I can boot into Windows XP and if it's still activated.

Here VIA bragging about the chipset in this motherboard. It seems it could not be this bad, but what could I do wrong?

Maybe there is some later BIOS, but is seems this should have been fixed by 2012.

I did not reseat them, the only thing I changed was adding a fan :)

I am running memory tests of some memory sticks. With two of them I got errors. I wanted to know which stick was faulty, so I removed one of them. No error. I then seated the one i removed to verify that it was faulty. No error.

However, I took a fan and configured it to blow on them. Now they passed two memtest86+ passes. It seems they failed because they got too warm!

They are very under-clocked and fail because of heat anyway. This is DDR-400 memory sticks.
