The heroes of Normandy deserve remembrance, gratitude and humility.
Using D-Day commemorations as a platform for culture-war politics is shameless. Yet that increasingly seems to be standard practice for the Trump administration.
The recent statement by Mojtaba Khamenei is remarkable for how extremely eleminationist it is toward Israel, even by the regime's standards.
He celebrates the October 7 attacks as a key achievement, he says Israel's "breaths are numbered", he calls it a "cancerous tumor" and he repeats his father's 2015 'prediction' that Israel won't last beyond 2040 "inshallah"

The meme is about Islamism, the video is from an Arab Leftist - but it fits perfectly.
This video is not about pain or suffering.
It's about civilizational "dignity," which, unfortunately, in the Arab world mostly still means the same as it did in the colonial 19th century.
“No quarter, no mercy for our enemies.” - Pete Hegseth (March 13, 2026 Pentagon briefing)
Per the international rules of armed conflict in the Geneva Conventions, which the United States signed on to, combatants who surrender are to be taken prisoner. “No quarter” means they are killed instead.
So when Pete Hegseth said “no quarter,” that wasn’t casual rhetoric. He was literally declaring a war crime.
Es geht nicht darum, was ein Kulturminister für unerträglich hält. Es geht darum, was für deutsche Juden, Juden in Deutschland unerträglich ist

A new, out-of-nowhere statement from @RepAlGreen.
Spox: "The attached statement is in reference to a circumstance that occurred in 2008. This circumstance did not involve the Cong. Office, nor the Office of Employment Counsel & did not involve the use of any taxpayer money."
This is just unbelievable: the Senate of Berlin wants to close the Archaeology Institute of the Humboldt University because of budget constraints, saying that there is another in the city anyway. A pillar of academic excellence in teaching and research, active for more than 200 years may be just wiped out with a flick of a pen.
Incredible as it may seem, we need to explain to those people that certain things need to be preserved and that when they are gone, they're gone, killing hopes, projects, careers, and traditions. You dont bring that back like flicking a switch if the money comes back.
I have just signed, please do the same:

While it is easy to dismiss Tucker Carlson’s ignorance and intent for how he engages on the issue of Israel and Palestine, his recent interview with US Ambassador Mike Huckabee did reveal something worth consideration and contemplation. That a senior US official holding the post of Ambassador to a strategic ally like Israel in an inflamed and intense time in the region would share such an abundance of personal views while in his official capacity is a real cause for concern. Ambassador Huckabee cherishes a particular branch of Christianity that identifies with modern-day Zionism, and that is entirely within his personal right and prerogative. Still, the United States’ ethos has long been about foreign policy, which is not based on theology or religion but is singularly focused on America’s interests worldwide to maximize alliances, attract friends and supporters, and navigate messy conflicts.
Some of Ambassador Huckabee’s statements appeared to be inconsistent with this long-established principle, prompting backlash from most Arab countries, including US allies such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, and Kuwait. The idea that biblical theology can serve as the basis for contemporary US foreign policy is indeed inappropriate, given the complex geopolitical landscape that requires tact, finesse, and skilled statecraft and diplomacy.
Ambassador Huckabee did not make statements that were consistent with President Trump’s own proclamations, including the right for Palestinians to continue to reside in the West Bank, despite Israeli fanatics seeking to undermine modern-day borders of the nation-state on the basis of biblical theology.
Furthermore, some elements of the Christian Zionist community have been viewed with immense suspicion and frustration by Palestinians, Muslims, and Arab nations because they have lent their support to extremist Jewish settlers in the West Bank, and those engaging in violence and the discourse of erasure when it comes to the Palestinians.
Jewish belonging and heritage, as well as the right of Israelis to safety and security, should be discussed in a radically pragmatic framework that does not unnecessarily invoke religious text, theological doctrine, or notions of superiority on the basis of religion based on “god’s choice.” Instead, the focus should be on modern-day principles of sovereignty, international law and norms, mutual recognition and accountability, as well as the core principle that Israel’s existence and safety are not inherently at odds with the rights of Palestinians to freedom and self-determination.
I hope that moving forward, US officials, whether they be part of the current or future administrations, can truly place the ethos, principles, and interests of the United States first and foremost, before sharing views and opinions in their official capacity that could undermine the prospects of diplomatic resolutions and relationships necessary to solve such intractable conflicts.
Während man sich in Deutschland selektiv über stinknormale Sachverhalte empört, wenn es die Richtigen trifft (Dienstwagen), wird in den USA die methodische Grundlage des argumentativen Denkens verboten.
Students for Jihad in Palestine (SJP) is hosting an event at New York City’s public law school (CUNY) with Columbia University professor Dr. Hadeel Assali to discuss how tunnels in Gaza are part of the 'resistance to colonization' and how the Gaza underground serves as an example of 'decolonial land use.' She is an anthropologist who examines "the ongoing colonial legacies of the discipline of geology and anti-colonial ways of knowing and relating to the earth in southern Palestine." This ridiculous PhD of hers was overseen and advised by Mahmood Mamdani, father of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Needless to say, Dr. Assali, SJP, and a whole network at CUNY and Columbia students and faculty are overly and openly pro-Hamas, celebrating the tunnels as the ultimate marvel of Palestinian "resistance." They do not know the number of children killed digging these tunnels; they don't seem to care about the intimidation, corruption, theft, killings, and massive abuses that went into the establishment of these tunnels, not to mention the empowerment of a fascist Islamist organization like Hamas through these dungeons.
When I want to speak at CUNY, Columbia, MIT, and countless other schools, University administrators often reject my requests, tell me I'm not "pro-Palestine" enough, or that we have to seriously worry about security, interruptions, and horrific student and faculty behavior that can disrupt any possible event - free speech is suspended, and academic freedoms are constrained. But when pro-Hamas Jihadis and neo-terrorist students and faculty want to host activities and events that are the worst possible expressions of "pro-Palestine" sentiments, endorsements of designated terror orgs, and support for violence, somehow, they end up with the full support of university administrators, and free speech becomes a central consideration to ensure that such events are held without any disruption.
There is no justice in this world ...
