AI researcher Nate Soares (@So8res) describes how he talked to people in the industry about the threat from superintelligence for a decade.
He took it to politicians. They were like: "That's crazy. We shouldn't allow that to happen."
It's not hard to grasp that racing to build something vastly smarter than humans that we don't understand or control might go really badly. People get it, if you explain the problem.

@ArtemisConsort “Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.’”
I don't understand why people are so surprised, it's in that book everyone is obsessed with
We now have meta-analytic confirmation:
Adding exercise on top of caloric restriction leads to more weight loss.
It also leads to better weight loss, with less of the weight lost as lean mass, and more of it lost as fat mass.
@ArtemisConsort I feel like the whole capitalism vs socialism debate is so outdated
We live in a miraculous technological abundance age, we can have both free food and housing at a very low tax rate
But not in democracy obviously
Pope Leo XIV's zucchetto blew off his head on Saturday while he was visiting Lampedusa’s Favaloro Pier to dedicate a plaque to the late Pope Francis.
An aide handed him a new one to put on since the other had gone into the ocean.
The pontiff's visit paid tribute to migrants who died trying to reach Europe, as the pier is a symbolic landing point for migrants crossing the Mediterranean.
🇩🇪German feminist Verena Brunschweiger promotes the slogan "My lineage ends with me."
She calls on White people not to have children, claiming that Western pro-natalists only want to "control women, and keep refugees out."
Brunschweiger says Europeans are responsible for poor living conditions in Africa:
"So I would take all immigrants and refugees in because we ruined the world, so to speak.
We produce climate change, which makes life in Africa, for instance, miserable and horrible. So of course, why not invite [them] if they want to come?"
Starting from a world where Europe is almost entirely white and Christian, we arrive at this point in the majority of simulations we run
White openness + teachings of Jesus, can't end well in the long term, especially with the abundance of resources
Starting from a world where Europe is almost all White Christian, if you asked the question “should a bunch of Muslims live in Europe?” it seems obvious the answer is no, and I don’t see why it changes just because traitors moved a bunch of them in already.
