@itxMaggei Simplify the first equation:
2x=2y
x=y
Therefore since both x and y are identical,
xy=20=x²=y²
Take it further. What are x and y?
x=y=sqrt(20)=sqrt(4*5)=sqrt(4)*sqrt(5)
x=y=[2*sqrt(5), -2*sqrt(5)]
@whittomd@StockItOver@hcat3h Yep, Derek is correct. Lots of these sorts of posts try to get more engagement by using things that a lot of folks don't know about the details of the order of operations. (BS in Math from MIT.)
The ones with a ! at the end annoy me - a lot of folks don't know about factorials.
@linadreaamy The equilateral small triangle has to have three interior angles, label them y, of 60°. Label the unlabeled interior angle of the large triangle z.
40°+y+z=180°, 40°+60°+z=180°, therefore z=80°.
x+70°+80°=180°, therefore x=30°>
@DaveHancox1 @SqSehrish Dave is correct. Source: me, I have BS in Math from MIT and I approve this answer. The original question intentionally puts the factorial at the end so that people who don't know about factorial notation think it is just punctuation.
@DaveHancox1@Pinoy_hakdog @SqSehrish Lots of these math questions intentionally use a factorial as the last term so that folks who aren't math nerds like us think it's just punctuation. Good for getting lots of wrong answers and thus more engagement. Sigh.
@farman4x 14
First do all the square roots, which count as exponents.
=> 12+8÷4
Second so all multiplication and division left to right.
=> 12+2
Finally do all addition and subtraction left to right.
=> 14
@farman4x 15 or -15 both work
y²/5=45=3²*5
multiply both sides by 5
y²=3²*5*5=3²*5²=(3*5)²=15²
y=15
but a negative number squared becomes positive, so
y=-15 is also a solution.
@Knightley_22@AlexaBliz_ A hole that goes through counts as 2 - 1 hole in the fabric of the front of the sweater plus 1 hole in the fabric of the back of the sweater. (7*2)=14, plus neck, waits, and 2 wrists. 18 is correct. If you had to repair the "7" through holes with patches, you need 14 for that.🤷♂️
