@Arromenth1 @AddisonSmithTV @farmingandJesus It wasn’t the burnt offerings that saved or forgave them themselves. It was Christ work on the cross to come. God accepted the sacrifice as a good work produced by faith. Just like our good works are fruit our faith. But good works are not saving. In the NT and the OT.

@Arromenth1 @AddisonSmithTV @farmingandJesus Think of it this way. The Bible is one unified text all pointing into Christ. The Old Testament, they looked to Jesus and were justified. I explained Adam and Abraham. But also David talked of Jesus in the psalms, Daniel talked about “the son of man”

@Arromenth1 @AddisonSmithTV @farmingandJesus I would leave that difficult question to the Lord. Their baptism did not save them anymore than circumcision saved a Jew. They are both signs pointing to Christ. Paul says a Jew is not one outwardly but inwardly in the heart. Rom 2. The material sign is not faith itself.

@Arromenth1 @AddisonSmithTV @farmingandJesus There is no other way to be saved than faith in Jesus Christ. OT or NT. No good deed or work, including sacrifices. And no, babies can’t repent and believe. They are baptized because Isaac & Ishmael were included. Some kids are like Isaac and covenant keepers, some are not.

@Arromenth1 @AddisonSmithTV @farmingandJesus The sign of the promise was applied to children. God changed the sign to baptism, but he never said to stop with children. If you read Acts through the lens of Abraham, IMO it’s hard not to see the parallel when they baptize whole households. (Acts 16, 10 & 18).

God promised Abraham “from you all the nations will be blessed” (talking about Christ) and “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Gen 15:6. After this God commanded him to give sign to his whole household (Gen 17)

Abraham believed and it was counter to him as righteousness (Gen 15:6) After was given the sign of faith (circumcision). And commanded to give the sign to his kids. Just like Acts!

The question becomes: Why, in a greater sign, would you exclude a group (children) when they were included in the lesser sign? The greater now adds woman too

The surprise is that the gentiles are now apart of the promise and each new family grafted in is like a new Abraham. Abraham took everyone in his whole house and gave them the sign Gen 17:23
