It's actually really concerning how many people believe a "yes" or willingness to participate in sex is always consent. I don't know how many examples I can give before these people get it.

Here's another one. You're at a party with your gf. At one point she says she needs to lie down. Nobody is drunk, nobody has taken drugs. She's lying on a bed in whoever's house you're at, the room is dark. Another man slips in there, too dark to see, but has a similar build to you. He lays down next to her and whispers that he's you as he starts feeling her up. They make out and he fingers her. He slips back out of the room, and she goes to sleep until you come to get her later.

Little quiz for you. Did she consent to that? It's okay, take your time.

No. She did not. Despite not rejecting any advances. Despite participating. Despite even saying "yes" to "is this okay?" At one point, no, she did not consent.

Question 2. Why? I mean, she said yes. She didn't stop him. She wasn't drunk. She was even kissing on him. That HAS to be consent. It checks all of the boxes!! She can't retroactively take it back!!

She can though. Because her consent was under the condition that the person in the room was you. The person this other guy was pretending to be. It was too dark, your builds too similar. He didn't speak much. This is called consent obtained by fraud/deception.

So, yes does not always mean yes. Consent CAN be revoked, even retroactively. Consent is sometimes literally not able to be given. These are all true. Just because your tiny brain cannot conceptualize this does not make it less true.

I feel like when I say I'm anti-death penalty, ppl assume I don't think anyone deserves to die. This is false. There are absolutely ppl who deserve death. I simply don't think any government can be trusted with the right to kill.
