TaiAri is made funnier by the way Mio is seen as a cryptid with a deranged backstory even by the other characters. The whole cast is just a bit too into Street Fighter, meanwhile she tells them her life was on the line irl against her mom. Diomedea's ace Kato for the animation?

@thebeckreeves Also, as a curious aside, some souls didn't enter the Black Moon but GNR instead, and we don't know what happened to them. One theory is that they left with Yui/Eva-01.

@thebeckreeves It is worth noting that the souls in the Black Moon are shown exiting it upon its destruction and falling to Earth. At that point instrumentality is over and they should already be separate beings - the choice is whether to regenerate a body.

Tai Ari is solid fun at any time, but basically every time Mio does anything it becomes the funniest shit ever. She's so insane, like actually messed up in the head (seems to run in the family), and Kana Ichinose's deadpan delivery just makes it better.

Meanwhile, Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games is a significantly lighter shade of potential-yuri, though not lacking in intensity. It's fun! Even if I'm not well versed in fighting games, so the genre jargon sounds like Elvish to me.

It's already common knowledge that 100 Girlfriends is the greatest romcom anime of all time, but to think that it would also be the greatest idol anime of all time... Truly this is the power of Rentarou Family.

And naturally it comes as a surprise to absolutely no-one that 100 Girlfriends is still absolute peak kino fiction cinema. We, who have always been so back, continue to be so back but with greater sobackness than ever before.

@AndyKavna In both versions he, after rejecting Instrumentality, gets some kind of feedback from other characters and - crucially - some kind of carthasis regarding his mother. In EoTV we don't get to see what happens after that, in EoE we do.

@AndyKavna I don't think the conclusions are the exact same, more of a "two sides of same coin" situation, but functionally the closest equivalent to "congratulations" would probably be Shinji's final discussion with Rei and Kaworu, extending into his goodbye with Yui.

I was skeptical going into Inept Villainess, but the MC has really won me over. The Maomao comparison is easy to make, but they're still different enough in background and personality that she doesn't feel too much like a copy.

It was one of the best ideas I've ever had to watch Kamiina Botan with the anime club, and I only regret not being present for the last few episodes. Sweet but not without tension, delightfully nerdy in an understated way, and just simply a good time.

Rounding out the spring season premieres I'm interested in, Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk is a very cute yuri anime featuring college students and a lot of alcohol. I already know many people who are going to have a lot to relate to in this show (apart from the yuri).

Sparks of Tomorrow continues to be a bit unclear on where its plot is going, in exchange for being delightfully fun at every turn. (It also continues to be stunning, especially the backgrounds.)

The villain isn't the only one who's all over the place. Literally, in their case.

Sparks of Tomorrow is absolutely stunning but also... surprisingly funny? I knew that the animation would be lively and that the villain would be all over the place, but I wasn't prepared for just how much both of those things are true.

Oh hey, Clevatess is back! The school setting is a big change and I'm seeing some familiar tropes, but after the excellent first season it has earned some anime bullshit.

More importantly, it's good to see the moyo-voiced failgirl becoming a regular

I wasn't sure if I'd watch the new Ghost in the Shell, but figured I'd give it a try. It's certainly quite different from the 1995 movie, which is the only GitS I'd seen until now. The relentless pace and technobabble are nicely balanced by a very fun Motoko. (Maaya Sakamoto!!)

I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day is very interesting so far. I knew it'd be a dark yuri but was not expecting this kind of dynamic. Some attention-catching casting choices too.
