Cookbooks, both online and hardcopies are great. I used it for references once in a while.
For example, since I got married (36 years ago), I started using a cookbook here in Canada 🇨🇦 on my first year of arrival.
I remember bringing a cookbook (Reader Digest) in my suitcase when I arrived to Canada 🇨🇦 in February 1990. It was bought in Singapore 🇸🇬 , just before I left for Canada 🇨🇦.
I used to work for Indo-English family, as a domestic caregiver of two boys in Singapore 🇸🇬. My employer was a Chartered Accountant (CA) from UK, married to well-educated, well-to-do wife from Madras (called Chennai since 1996), India.
Since the lady of the house was a stay-at-home mom & a computer student, she likes to cook for her family, herself. So, my rule was to help her with the preparation, like cutting up of vegetables, making homemade yogurt, and some Indo-sweets or European desserts. Her, being married to a Chartered Accountant who owns his own accounting firm, they both entertained a lot; sometimes, few dinners 🍽 in a month.
It was a great experience for me working for this family in Singapore 🇸🇬 for at least three years before coming to Canada 🇨🇦 in early 1990s, I learned to cook East Indian and European cuisines, besides Filipino cuisine (my country of origin). Even then, I only cooked very simple Filipino food, especially during my secondary and university years in the Philippines 🇵🇭.
Thus, working in Singapore 🇸🇬, coming to Canada 🇨🇦 in a working visa as a caregiver, worked for a couple Caucasian employers, and before getting married to a French-Canadian in September 1990 were a step-up with my simple Filipino food cooking.
Of course, my Readers Digest Cookbook was a big help when I arrived in Canada 🇨🇦, since I didn't know much of North American food cooking. Also, my two Canadian Caucasian lady employers taught me how to cook North American food favorites as well.
So, when I got married six months after arriving to Canada 🇨🇦, I managed to learn on how to cook for my own family Canadian-Filipino style of cooking. There have been more rice 🍚 than mashed potatoes 🥔, more soy sauce than salt, more mixture of vermicelli noodles 🍜 than just pasta noodles 🍝.
Over the years, my Readers Digest Cookbook just became one of my cookbook references. It has mostly been my own improvised affordable Canadian-Filipino cooking recipes for my family of five, plus my widowed mom since my dad died in March 2012 while vacationing in Philippines 🇵🇭.
My husband, @albert_riopel and I have been taking care of my mom since 1995; when we sponsored them (with my dad) as permanent residents, and became Canadian citizens five years later. Sometimes, our young adult children (@NYCARE_Wellness) helped when they can.
Anyway, cookbooks are great! I know my kids use mostly online recipes, especially my two young adult daughters. As for me, my husband and my 78 years old mom, we cook our food very simple and according to preferences. One day, I might create a family cookbook.
My apologies for the long response post. It's a habit that won't likely be appropriate for monetization purposes. But I still hope to monetize my account and at the same time learning a lot here on X platform. 🙂

I was on the operating table for an endoscopy this afternoon.
Anesthesiologist came in and ran through the safety questions:
“No heart issues right?”
“No chipped or broken teeth?”
Drugs start flowing. I’m getting drowsy.
And the moment before I pass out:
“Are you the Nikita who worked at X?”
Nothing earns my respect more than someone working hard to provide for their family.
I don’t care what you do for a living.
I don’t care how much money you make.
If you’re showing up every day, giving it everything you’ve got, and doing your best to give your family a better life, I’m cheering for you.
Massive respect.

Caught the flu before visiting the flu shot centres like, Shoppers Drug Mart, Safeway Pharmacy, London Drugs, Pharmasave and other health centers nearby.
Flu shots are usually free sort of, as long as you have your provincial medical card or your extended health insurance from work covers it.
So far, I haven't seen my doctor yet. Usually, I just take Tylenol for fever, and flu & cold medication over the counter like, 'Life Cold & Flu at Shoppers Drug Mart'.
Since I started taking these medications, they seem working. My fever temperature seems decreasing since the fever started few days ago.
My stomach hurts every time I coughed, though. So, it would be for a few days of resting, and being away from everyone for possible spreading this contagious flu.
Sadly, because of my catching of this flu, our family's Thanksgiving celebration is postponed for next week; when I'm not contagious to be around anymore.
Glad that my husband, @albert_riopel goes to work during the day, and spends time at the gym, pool, whirlpool & sauna every evening, after work, likely he won't catch the flu. His immune system seems pretty good. He hardly gets flu.
Now, as for my 78 years old mom, with multiple medical issues, I'm very careful around her, especially, I'm the ones who prepares her meals, medication and other caregiver duties.
Anyway, I took a few photo 📸 of my mom at our balcony. The weather seems warm enough here at our New Westminster condominium. She even wants her dinner already. Please note my mom has been diagnosed of Alzheimer, diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure. Thus, it's not easy for all of us. But we're managing our daily tasks.
By the way, I took a screenshot of what flu symptoms. Take care of your health everyone. ^ER ✍️ (@EarlaRiopel)
We're back from a five days visit at our Lantzville 🇨🇦 property. We're in our New Westminster 🇨🇦 place now.
We cameback Saturday, with the 8:15 pm, BC Ferries ⛴️ schedule sailing due to @albert_riopel's representing @CAN_ICOM#ICOMcanada#ICOM#AmateurRadio#HamRadio Event at Delta #ComFest #SwapMeet, yesterday. I (@EarlaRiopel) was there too, helping him out.
Anyway, with those 4 full days in Lantzville 🇨🇦, we accomplished a lot of work. I spent at least 8 to 10 hours a day working in the yard. Whereas, Albert spent 4 to 6 hours building our new workshop.
Furthermore our yard is seeing quite a bit of progress. Even my husband, @Albert_Riopel commented, "The backyard field is looking like a park!".
Glad to hear his comment, since even now, my body still feeling the soreness and pain from all the digging with a ground that one-third of its contents were stones and rocks. Some of them were so big that I needed to use a crowbar to dig them out!
The digging part wasn't so bad, since we needed all the rocks we can use to build our driveway. So in a way, I'm accomplishing two things, first, growing my plants and helping Albert with the driveway development.
Besides my yardwork, as previously mentioned, Albert has been doing well with our new workshop! I'll post a few photos in a later time. He took a few recent ones in his📱phone.
As for my photos, I just took a few before it started getting dark and before we left Lantzville 🇨🇦, Saturday evening.
Also, I took a few photos 📸 here in our New Westminster balcony this morning.
Finally, I re-started having a little garden nursery here in our NewWestminster balcony, using pots and containers to do some seedings 🪴🌱🌿, and to be planted permanently in our Lantzville 🇨🇦 property.
So far, the little nursery garden at the balcony is looking good. Even my 78 years old mom with multiple medical issues is enjoying the sight of our balcony's 'little nursery garden'; it makes her extra happy.
Anyway, until next writings! ^ER ✍️ (@EarlaRiopel)

For infrastructure companies, it is how developers evaluate the product, build trust, and decide whether it belongs in production.
