I was on the operating table for an endoscopy this afternoon.
Anesthesiologist came in and ran through the safety questions:
βNo heart issues right?β
βNo chipped or broken teeth?β
Drugs start flowing. Iβm getting drowsy.
And the moment before I pass out:
βAre you the Nikita who worked at X?β
Nothing earns my respect more than someone working hard to provide for their family.
I donβt care what you do for a living.
I donβt care how much money you make.
If youβre showing up every day, giving it everything youβve got, and doing your best to give your family a better life, Iβm cheering for you.
Massive respect.

Caught the flu before visiting the flu shot centres like, Shoppers Drug Mart, Safeway Pharmacy, London Drugs, Pharmasave and other health centers nearby.
Flu shots are usually free sort of, as long as you have your provincial medical card or your extended health insurance from work covers it.
So far, I haven't seen my doctor yet. Usually, I just take Tylenol for fever, and flu & cold medication over the counter like, 'Life Cold & Flu at Shoppers Drug Mart'.
Since I started taking these medications, they seem working. My fever temperature seems decreasing since the fever started few days ago.
My stomach hurts every time I coughed, though. So, it would be for a few days of resting, and being away from everyone for possible spreading this contagious flu.
Sadly, because of my catching of this flu, our family's Thanksgiving celebration is postponed for next week; when I'm not contagious to be around anymore.
Glad that my husband, @albert_riopel goes to work during the day, and spends time at the gym, pool, whirlpool & sauna every evening, after work, likely he won't catch the flu. His immune system seems pretty good. He hardly gets flu.
Now, as for my 78 years old mom, with multiple medical issues, I'm very careful around her, especially, I'm the ones who prepares her meals, medication and other caregiver duties.
Anyway, I took a few photo πΈ of my mom at our balcony. The weather seems warm enough here at our New Westminster condominium. She even wants her dinner already. Please note my mom has been diagnosed of Alzheimer, diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure. Thus, it's not easy for all of us. But we're managing our daily tasks.
By the way, I took a screenshot of what flu symptoms. Take care of your health everyone. ^ER βοΈ (@EarlaRiopel)
We're back from a five days visit at our Lantzville π¨π¦ property. We're in our New Westminster π¨π¦ place now.
We cameback Saturday, with the 8:15 pm, BC Ferries β΄οΈ schedule sailing due to @albert_riopel's representing @CAN_ICOM#ICOMcanada#ICOM#AmateurRadio#HamRadio Event at Delta #ComFest #SwapMeet, yesterday. I (@EarlaRiopel) was there too, helping him out.
Anyway, with those 4 full days in Lantzville π¨π¦, we accomplished a lot of work. I spent at least 8 to 10 hours a day working in the yard. Whereas, Albert spent 4 to 6 hours building our new workshop.
Furthermore our yard is seeing quite a bit of progress. Even my husband, @Albert_Riopel commented, "The backyard field is looking like a park!".
Glad to hear his comment, since even now, my body still feeling the soreness and pain from all the digging with a ground that one-third of its contents were stones and rocks. Some of them were so big that I needed to use a crowbar to dig them out!
The digging part wasn't so bad, since we needed all the rocks we can use to build our driveway. So in a way, I'm accomplishing two things, first, growing my plants and helping Albert with the driveway development.
Besides my yardwork, as previously mentioned, Albert has been doing well with our new workshop! I'll post a few photos in a later time. He took a few recent ones in hisπ±phone.
As for my photos, I just took a few before it started getting dark and before we left Lantzville π¨π¦, Saturday evening.
Also, I took a few photos πΈ here in our New Westminster balcony this morning.
Finally, I re-started having a little garden nursery here in our NewWestminster balcony, using pots and containers to do some seedings πͺ΄π±πΏ, and to be planted permanently in our Lantzville π¨π¦ property.
So far, the little nursery garden at the balcony is looking good. Even my 78 years old mom with multiple medical issues is enjoying the sight of our balcony's 'little nursery garden'; it makes her extra happy.
Anyway, until next writings! ^ER βοΈ (@EarlaRiopel)

"Cooking Favourite Good Food is One Keys to Better Health & Food Enjoyment"
Though I am still feeling feverish and don't fell like like doing anything, including cooking, but I know, I have to cook some new decent food tonight.
So, I picked a few dishes that were easy to prepare such as the following:
* Baked Chicken Breast
* Fried Fish π
* Fried Prawns π¦
* Steamed Basmati Rice π
* Steamed Green Beans π« & Peas π«
* Mixed Veggies π² with Coconut Milk π₯₯
Fun Fact: Some of these Veggies were from our Lantzville π¨π¦ & Point Roberts πΊπΈ gardens.
By the way, I'll post a few photos πΈ. I'll post the other ingredients and recipes for the above dishes in a later time; this writing is getting too long. ^ ER βοΈ (@EarlaRiopel)
So true. It always come down on how much left after necessities are paid; like food, housing, health & wellness, utilities, school fees (if taking PT schooling), special annual occasions, registered investments, and a few other necessities in life.
Keeping track of spendings is the key.
"Building Small Spaces for Big Purpose"
This year, my husband, @Albert_Riopel has been building little new cottages or workshops in our Point Roberts πΊπΈ & Lantzville π¨π¦ properties.
So far, these properties are looking good. The washrooms just need some work. Both places have septic systems within the premises, but just need to be re-routed, installed, and attached to the cottage/workshop soon.
Anyway, Albert & I (@EarlaRiopel) took a few photos of the recent developments in our Point Roberts πΊπΈ & Lantzville π¨π¦ properties.
By the way, we'll be in Point Roberts πΊπΈ next weekend. ^ βοΈ ER (@EarlaRiopel)
"Few Last Harvests at Our Point Roberts πΊπΈ & Lantzville π¨π¦ Gardens"
This is it! The spring green beans π«and peas π« are at the end of their growing. But, there are newer ones coming though, likely some can get harvested in at least a couple of months.
In Point Roberts πΊπΈ garden, we still have a few handfuls of greens like onions, salad π₯, carrots, potatoes and lots of new peas π« planted.
Also, in Lantzville π¨π¦, we still have a few of potatoes, green salad π₯, herbs πΏ, sunflowers π», corn π½, peppers πΆ, tomatoes π and lots of new peas π« planted!
Anyway, I took a few photos for you, during our visit in Lantzville π¨π¦ (Sept 29th to October 3rd) & Point Roberts πΊπΈ (Sept 26th to Sept 27th). Finally, a photo of the havest once they are cleaned up place in the fridge or freezer.
We made sure we have fridge /freezer in three locations: Point Roberts πΊπΈ, Lantzville π¨π¦ and New Westminster π¨π¦; we might get another fridge / freezer once we spend more time in our Skagit Valley πΊπΈ agricultural land in Conway, Mount Vernon, WA USA πΊπΈ (near Milltown Boat Launch).
Anyway, until next writing! ^ER βοΈ (@EarlaRiopel)
I haven't been cooking in this last week. When on the road, either Lantzville π¨π¦ & Point Roberts πΊπΈ, I usually cooked for the whole week.
But @Albert_Riopel & I (@EarlaRiopel) always make a room for an easy-meal-to-go, such as rotisserie with crossaints, potato salad, and macaroni salad at Costco-Nanaimo, or Safeway-New Westminster /Burnaby or Save-On-Food-New Westminster /Tsawwassen, Delta.
Also, if I can't cook (got the fever, overworked at Lanzville π¨π¦ last week), Albert usually, make his famous spaghetti π and chicken vegetables & pasta π² soup.
I managed to take a photo πΈ of the spaghetti he cooked last night. After having some for his dinner and for his lunch today, I managed to keep a little for my lunch today.
Ingredients:
Spaghetti π noodles
Extra Lean Ground Beef
Pasta Prego Sauce
Powdered Spices & Herbs πΏ
Cubes of block cheddar cheese π§
Salt or soya sauce and pepper to taste.
Anyway, I still need to post about our recent and last harvest at Point Roberts πΊπΈ & Lantzville π¨π¦ in the next posts. ^ER βοΈ (@EarlaRiopel)
