Anthropic didn’t want to give out Fable to their subscriptions because it cuts into their profit margins and will make their IPO look less spectacular. Now they have to give it out and customers will be pissed to find out they have been over charged by token inefficient product.
The biggest political mistake the AI industry could make is assuming public trust can be bought.
Appreciate @johnofa using Blue Rose Research's recent AI polling and the Center for Shared AI Prosperity's work here.

Caching is critical for customers to lower both costs and TTFT.
We’re launching a new dashboard in Claude Developer Console to increase visibility and help customers optimize their usage.
Check it out here: https://t.co/zgBJ4dHXyI
Hot take. Claude is doing the right thing. Give the real customers a better experience (keep infra working well for them) while ditching people having their bots loop over their calendar 100,000 times a day.
It's really bizarre to see a bunch of ostensibly pro-market, right-leaning tech guys argue, "A private company asserting the right to decide what contracts it enters into is antithetical to democratic government"
@natseckatrina@jeremyphoward@jachiam0 It’s probably because Joshua is being disingenuous. Americans have not voted on AI being used for mass surveillance or autonomous drone strikes. It’s new and scares most people. See @davidshor’s polling.
@MaxEllison2048@TheChiefNerd I bet if you tried to use Waymo on a battlefield it wouldn’t work very well. The same is for Claude, which was trained to write stuff - not for war.
I believe that the cynical takes about Anthropic and Dario Amodei (that this is a public relations move, or they want AI regulation for regulatory capture) will age badly
I think Anthropic is genuinely worried about AI risk
@QuinnChasan Anthropic was being transparent that China used their models to distill a shittier model. It’s not good, but at least they were honest. I doubt you’ll see that from any AI company again. But it’s not as big of a deal as hindering Anthropic’s progress.
@QuinnChasan Trump admin officials are aware AI is the future and probably is trying to create some leverage to make money off data centers. It’s not about national security. It’s corruption.
@QuinnChasan Anthropic is principled. They have already are or on the cusp of being profitable, which is the most important thing for US AI dominance. It does have to do with their principles. They stayed lean and focused. The team is elite.
I am opposed to this War.
This is not “America First.”
When Congress reconvenes, I will work with @RepRoKhanna to force a Congressional vote on war with Iran.
The Constitution requires a vote, and your Representative needs to be on record as opposing or supporting this war.
