The delegation visited @RRSEThiopia's registration facilities, where RRS is issuing IDs supporting refugees’ inclusion to national system. At UNHCR’s Resettlement house, they learnt how we are working with governments to ensure refugees are safely resettled to other countries.

Ethiopia's newly appointed Foreign Minister Taye Atskeselassie has proposed Amharic to be included among the African Union's official working languages.

He made the remark at the opening of the AU's Executive Council (Foreign Ministers) meeting in Addis earlier today. Amb. Taye recalled that Amharic was one of the languages in which the preceeding OAU charter was signed.

Current AU official languages are Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Kiswahili. Kiswahili was added to the list in 2022.

After millions of Ethiopians have fallen victims of the 1984 #famine, including the death by starvation of up to a million, it has to be acknowledged that the recent reports of death by starvation in #Amhara and #Tigray regions are the first to have been officially admitted by regional authorities.

Failing to properly understand the severity of the crisis, or admit the death of helpless civilians by starvation will significantly hamper the response to the catastrophe. Millions are on the verge of death. Authorities must stop wrangling over the semantics of description and declare the crisis a national emergency in order to coordinate appropriate responses before it is too late.

ይህን ተከትሎ ከስልጤ ዞን ቅባት ከተማ የተወጣጡ የእስልምና እምነት ተከታይ የሀገር ሽማግሌዎች ከታቦተ ማርያም ጋር ተሰደው የሚገኙ ሰዎችን ቡታጅራ ድረስ በመሄድ አጽናንተዋል።

እንዲህ አይነት ድርጊቶችን ክርስቲያን ሙስሊም ሳንል ሁላችንም ልናወግዝ ይገባል።
