I thought this was a very powerful message from @NIUCoachHammock. (For context, this was his response when asked how he feels seeing old NIU players performing at Power 4 schools.)

I know he stopped himself from saying that if NIU had the financial resources these Power 4 schools have, it would be a better program. Unfourntly, this is true. If NIU had the financial resources with Hammock's NFL experience and his ability to identify talent, NIU would be a force to be reckoned with.

Hammock briefly highlighted his own experience as college athlete, saying he considers the lessons he learned in college more valuable than any financial incentive.

“I would do it again for free — *for free.* Because of the things I learned. That’s why I’m standing here today: because of what I learned in college. Not because of how much somebody gave me.”
