Because in Islam, the word “Muslim” does not mean someone who follows Prophet Muhammad specifically. It means “one who submits to God.”

So Muslims believe Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and all prophets were “Muslims” in the sense that they submitted themselves to the will of God long before Islam was formally revealed through Muhammad.
