The Youth Alliance on COVID-19 has called the Government of Lesotho to reduce and subsidize data costs for Young people so as to pursue online learning, online based business as well as accessible relevant and authentic information on COVID-19.
In response to the Government of Lesotho COVID-19 mitigation strategies, the Lesotho Youth Alliance on COVID-19 has issued a Compact to the National Emergency Command Center (NECC) reacting to the socio-economic interventions proposed which largely fail to address Youth issues.
The poor will be hardest hit by Lesotho's decision to increase VAT at a time when Global recession is heightening too. Increase in data and airtime costs as a result of increased VAT will also impact negatively on access to information on COVID-19, access to education etc.
