George Dunne (fka Forest Preserve National) by Killian & Nugent c.1982 Most greens work really well, a few don’t, but the Horseshoe 7th is a standout and absolutely worth seeing. The Horseshoe green has roots back to Alister MacKenzie and running through Pete Dye. @Troon
Is #3 at Woking the OG of Lion’s Mouths?
Not exactly the accentuated Raynor type with both “Green Tusks” framing the Front Center Bunker, but very close.
Facts welcomed, opinions also appreciated!!

Finally got to @WokingGolf and did not disappoint! 4th as perhaps the origin of strategic architecture is as good as advertised.
1. Tee shot
2. Thee Centerline Bunkers
3. Approach from safe left tee shot, now faces FL Bunker carry, runaway green, BR bunkers
Brilliant. Simply.
It is an honor to support the work of the Jackson Park Golf Association and their caddie programming at South Shore and Jackson Park. Grateful for the trust in us (Vintage Golf Construction) shown by @TroonGolf@CDGAGolf@FirstTeeChicago@ChicagoParks@jacksonparkgc
Ok turf-pals, what is going on with this Bermuda grass cultivar at The Getty sculpture garden? Has anyone used this in golf, maybe as a no-mow around tees to ornamental/textural effect? Please educate me, Thanks.
At Hinsdale GC #2 & #17 we are working within an abandoned roadway by punching up design features on the centerline. #2 includes a back green shelf, while #17 gets added low, cop-type mounding. Construction will begin late 2025 with @wadsworth_golf@CDGAGolf@GolfClubAtlas
Architects of any discipline spend a lot of time trying to create a sense of place or “genus loci”. On a restoration or remodel project it can mean emphasizing an existing feature. At HGC, we decided to design the relocated #3 Green around an existing out building

Recently got to compete a couple days @IvanhoeClub and reminisced a lot about my friend Bruce Borland who left us too soon in 1999 at just 40. Was honored to work with, learn from and spend time with Bruce. Aerial from roughly 1999; Thank You, miss you my friend.
Don’t be scared, it’s just a 10,000 pound machine digging up your green. Restoring Putt-table slopes @IdlewildCC from about 9% to a slightly less frightening 3% to 5%. Happy Halloween 👻🎃 from Vintage Golf Construction.
