The replies to this are amusingly a range of “no you can’t” and “yeah well then go live tech-free”.
Putting aside the stupidity of these responses, why do any of you want this?
I am so fucking SICK of seeing the phrase “AI is here to stay”.
We are not powerless in the face of this. We can simply reject it. We do not HAVE to accept this.
Might be one of the best clips to encapsulate the problems with current game discourse
Too many people don’t give articulate personal thoughts on games and just default to buzzwords like “slop” or “soulless” and call it a day. Folks gotta learn to elaborate
They don’t care about Aang as a character; they use him to justify their misogyny toward Korra. They twist his character to fit their horrid agenda, ignore who he actually is, and use powerscaling. They favor him because he’s a male Avatar they perceive as white.
I really would like to know how these people become so brainwashed into accepting such bullshit premises or explanations for why things are the way they are.
Witch Hat Atelier's fate is quite hilarious. It was astroturfed to the moon by Viz, Kodansha and UNESCO framing Shirahama as the "savior of the manga industry from patriarchal routes" (aka other women), only for it to have as much "impact" as an average seasonal isekai.
@6lim6atan The most popular mangas out there, beloved by many of these idiots, are so overtly progressive in their narratives, characters, and themes that I cannot fathom how people can consume them and still walk away being absolute chuds.
FRIEREN is progressive
Why are you people incapable of interrogating or meaningfully critcizing a series as opposed to “the creator woke therefore bad”?
Why would you invoke Frieren of all series considering the ideas and themes it delves into?
Leftists are crying because the obvious industry plant, Witch Hat Atelier, isn't nearly as popular as Frieren.
The author, Kamome Shirahama, is a leftist with pro-Palestine views, drawing a character in the same pose as Handala, which was a pro-Palestine cartoon character. She has also donated to "gaza related" causes, used hashtags in support of Gaza, and signed various petitions and shared news related to it.
She is also pro LGBTQ, and the series explicitly contains same-sex relationships because she intentionally added them for solidarity with the "pride movement". The story also contains themes related to inclusiveness and diversity, and she has said that she used the diversity in american media as an inspiration...
She is also connected to UNESCO, with her interview with Laetitia Kaci, promoting the idea that the story is for global audiences, and Kodansha promoted it as an international feature piece.
Most Manga/Anime readers are not interested in stories with artificial ideological pandering, and would prefer stories like Frieren that don't have that loaded baggage... especially these days as more fans have become very wary of anything that even smells like woke garbage.
the fact that yall think a japanese woman having progressive ideas makes her an “industry plant” just makes it seem like you don’t see japanese people as People
@starsandtigers@shamartTM So this goes back to the earlier statement about the term being used flippantly for whatever the user doesn’t personally like. My reply was not about protecting the “ownership” of the word.
What was the point of this reply?
