His gaze is immediately following Felis’ movements, unable to tear his eyes away. “Perhaps there is.” He agreed quietly.

“Fat lot of good that did me, disowned and blasted off for helping my sister’s eldest be able to survive in the world.” He said with a heavy sigh.

And there’s a brow raised at that comment, though he knows it was made in jest. “If I’d known back then . .”

“I tried my damnedest when it was announced to get her to change her mind and pick someone else, but as ever, she wouldn’t listen.” He nodded, eventually shifting a little closer.

“And that vile cousin she married is hardly any better.” He said with a sigh, but his mind was wandering as his gaze lingered on Felis’ lips.

Shifting again, and his head is coming to rest beside Felis’. “Perhaps not, but she’s still more dangerous than most things in our world.”

“I grew up with Walburga, I think I can handle myself . .” A slight shrug.

“And yet here we are . .” He hummed, gaze drifting to Felis again as he frowned.

Nodding slightly, he rested his hands in his lap. “If you might still want me . .”

“You still deserve an apology for my behaviour.” He responded, shifting to sit a little closer.

Meeting his gaze with a small smile, he sat down on the edge of the bed. “I was wasted the last time I was here, wasn’t I?”

Following the lamplight, he crept in in near silence while removing his jacket and setting it on the back of the nearest chair. “Felis . .”
