@_Midnightshade_ Exactly this! I minored in Creative Writing, and have been in plenty of writing classes bc of it. (And bc it's a point being argued, I got straight As in them.) Being trained to write is only half of it. Being trained to analyze and critique writing well is also a big part of it.

BTS spoke once. The fandom kept working.

Here is one visible illustration of why I argued that the Recording Academy needs a sociologist on its staff.

BTS issued a single collective statement and didn't turn their concerts into a campaign against the Grammys. They didn't need to. Once their refusal entered a networked fandom, the Academy could no longer unilaterally determine the scale, duration or public meaning of the response.

These signs are only the most visible layer of a much broader process. Across the network, fans are documenting publicly visible institutional connections, retrieving and archiving statements, comparing explanations, translating sources and circulating contradictions. Some seek clarity about the category, some demand accountability and others act primarily to defend BTS. Their motives differ, but their actions reinforce one another.

ARMY doesn't need to act as a single mind for collective pressure to emerge. The network distributes the work without formally assigning it: one account finds a source, another places it in context, another translates it and thousands more preserve and circulate it. No single participant needs to possess the whole picture. Fragments accumulate into a shared record.
This doesn't guarantee that every claim produced within the fandom will be correct. It does mean that the issue becomes difficult to contain, erase or simply outwait. Information can survive individual posts, accounts and news cycles because it has already been reproduced across the network and incorporated into its collective memory.

BTS remain the symbolic centre, but not the command centre. They spoke once. What might otherwise have remained a moment became a process.

That looks like asking myself how much I want to tell the story, and how much I want the story to exist. Then, even if it only gets a handful of hits, I still feel happy having made it.

As BTS gains new fans every day, it’s important to show them what made BTS and ARMY special from the beginning: mutual respect 💜

It comes down to this: BTS themselves have asked ARMYs not to notice them or follow them while they’re out in public. The official fandom rules even state this. So if you’re doing that anyway, you’re choosing clout and selfish indulgence over their safety.

Doesn’t matter if they smile or “act” happy - they know they will get criticized if they don’t. And you’re forcing them to not have a second to breathe to themselves.

“But they’re a celebrity” - if you can’t treat all people as humans, you need to think about your life choices.

Just admit you’re selfish and care more about a photo than their safety or peace. They’ll remember the cities where they could explore in peace and which ones they couldn’t.

- Vehicles, ATVs, UTVs and other specialized equipment
- Tools, management supplies, office supplies, specialized monitors, etc

All of this and much more costs a lot of money. NPS is so much more than that.

As someone who has worked in NPS in the past:
- Interpretation/Rangers, Biologists, Maintenance, Security, Fire, Medical, etc etc are all jobs in the system.
- Infrastructure (roads, electricity, clean water, etc)
- Fire recovery, revegetation, invasive species management

@everlalark And immediately after this, Prim gets called with just one, which just goes to show it's still up to luck regardless. "May the odds be in your favor" is an in-universe saying for a reason - none of them are safe. Even Gale knows.

@MonikaCinnyRoll Wood, pearls, and amber are the things I think we'd trade most to aliens in a sci-fi universe because they're so unique to Earth. They're either earth species (trees), or the by-product of an earth species.
