As part of the initiative to address food shortage in Nigeria, the Nigeria Custom Service has suspended import duties and taxes on essential food items.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Wale Bashir Adeniyi, announced the suspension of import duties and taxes on essential food items to make them more affordable for Nigerians and address food inflation. Adeniyi also outlined the government's commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens amidst global inflation. He also mentioned that the Nigeria Customs Service has streamlined export processes to facilitate the efficient movement of goods to international markets.

Photo News: The DG NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu today at the Abuja Continental Hotel with his entire management team and all the 36 state directors and the FCT for a two-day strategic review meeting between the agency and UNICEF led by Mr Kshitij Joshi, UNICEF’s Chief Social and Behavior Change Officer.
The engagements is centered around restructuring and repositioning of a new partnership model which will guide collaboration with all stakeholders.
The new model is fashioned around framework of CHLEEAN the over riding template for citizen engagement under the agency’s Renewed Hope programme.

A delegation from National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), led by the commissioner Mr O.S Thomas, were today received by the Director General, National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu and his management team on a courtesy visit at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The NAICOM visit was to seek areas of partnerships with the Agency.
During his address, Mr Thomas said NAICOM’s mandate is to act on insurance related matters. He said the commission will benefit greatly from a partnership with the agency especially in the area of its current wide spread structure.
The DG in his response to the team said, the NOA structure is very functional and available for all government organizations/agencies to leverage on in communicating their initiatives/activities.

Seeking the support of Traditional rulers in value re-orientation
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu was in Minna, Niger state as part of his advocacy tour of states on the proposed National Value Charter (NVC) which will soon be unveiled by President Bola Tinubu.
As part of activities of the DG in the state was a visit to the Paramount Ruler of Minna, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago who congratulated the Dg on his appointment and pledged to extend the same cooperation and support to the Agency as he has done over the last 25 years of his reign. For him, tolerance and accommodation is very important in a diverse state like Niger. He said that he takes advantage of every opportunity to preach and advocate for peace and unity in his kingdom.
The DG used the opportunity to intimate the Emir and members of the Emirate Council of the plans to put in place a national Value Charter that will aggregate the values of all sub national entities which will become the binding values of the nation. The Charter, like a social contract stipulates the obligations of the country to the citizens and the corresponding duty of citizens to the country.
The DG intimated the Emir of the proposed summit for traditional rulers which will set out their role in preserving the values of communities and shaping the younger ones who constitute about 70% of the country’s population.
