Dasiba!
It's a double Canada talk week.
Join us on Friday at York University for an African feminist conversation on social movements, feminist praxes and solidarities.
Thanks to nbieli, Dr Sylvia Bawa @Essenbi for the invitation. ❣️
As the African continent marks African Human Rights Day today, the African Union, regional institutions and African states must deploy all efforts and available resources to protect African citizens abroad and everywhere.
Yes. The body is not where we want it to be. But trust that our spirit makes up for all infirmities.
Focus on the spirit and on the resolve. And keep your own spirits up.
We will rebuild a better society, despite their worst efforts! I can see it closer everyday.
I love you all!
Canada has no legal duty to ensure First Nations have clean drinking water, even if Liberal ministers publicly suggest otherwise, federal lawyers say.
That's the defence Ottawa is expected to mount as it fights a national class-action lawsuit this week. https://t.co/3v6xQnlg21

🧵Recently, we had the honour to engage with Elder Vince Kicknosway and Traditional Helper Elaine Kicknosway as part of the Kairos Blanket Exercise, an interactive education program designed to promote understanding of the history and impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples
"Ghana Police should provide Amnesty International Ghana with a list of all persons detained from the #StopGalamseyNow and #ReoocupyJulorbiHouse protest and their exact locations so we can provide them with the necessary basic needs."
Article 21(1)(d) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana asserts: “All persons shall have the right to freedom of assembly, including freedom to take part in processions and demonstrations.”
The Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) strongly condemns the unlawful tactics employed by the Ghana Police Service (@GhPoliceService) in the recent arrest and detention of approximately 40 citizens exercising their constitutional right to protest. These protests addressed critical national issues, including the alarming rise of state capture, widespread corruption, and the unchecked illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) that is devastating the country’s water bodies.
CDD-Ghana calls on the government and all relevant authorities to respect and uphold the constitutional rights of all Ghanaians, including the rights to peaceful assembly, freedom of expression, and protection from unlawful detention.

The solidarity acts that we witnessed yesterday in #Lebanon are heartwarming. People on the street distributing water and sandwiches to the displaced, others opening their houses to relatives and strangers, religious institutions welcoming displaced.
