Yet previously, because we had missing data from the age bracket 3 to 10 years a warning for products containing Salicylic Acid stated it was not suitable for 3 years and below
This warning was misleading indicating it was safe for 3 years and above
So all this time that wasn't the case as its now determined it's NOT SAFE for 3 to 10 years
It's positive move but why take so long to do a review on this age bracket when labels were telling consumers it was safe!

@FramePRUK@heyitsshivi_ Aww thank you for recommending us. We are the manufacturer for brands so we don't sell products but all the manufacture for are Cruelty Free and vegan as its our ingredient values
But will share some links ๐
@TheSBS_Crew We were rock bottom when we were awarded SBS in 2021 (hence the mad dance) but it gave us the inspiration to continue pushing with our start-up. Lucky we did as from that moment the only way was up and last year we secured investment and now scaling up in 2025 ๐
How can a market this size be unregulated!
The UK pet grooming products market size was estimated at USD 1.19 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.8% from 2024 to 2030.
There is currently no regulations in the UK or EU regarding pet topicals and this is the implications:
Human Impact ๐ค
Although the product is intended for the animal it is applied via the owners which results in human contact. As no allergens are listed this could result in the owner having allergic reactions to the product
the definition of a cosmetic product
Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 defines a cosmetic product as "any substance or mixture intended to be placed in contact with the external parts of the human body
These products do exactly that and would be classed as a cosmetic product so why do we have no safety legislation
Laboratories are unable to provide any form of safety assessments because the legislation is non existent
Environmental Impact ๐
Many products are wanting the natural status so they use ingredients like essential oils.
These type of ingredients require notification to poison control during product registration if they exceed 0.5% and some require notification regardless of concentrations too
This is because they can have Impact on aquatic life and it needs monitoring whats being released to the environment
it's not just the concern of essential oils as the most popular products are dog shampoos and all those ingredients are being washed down the drains straight into our waterways with no idea what they contain
10 000 dog groomers are registered in the UK, let's say they all use 1L of shampoo per day, that's 10,000L of unmonitored products entering the environment daily
Animal Impact ๐ถ
As no laws are in place all sorts of products are on the market that has no safety checks that ingredients have been used in correct concentrations and pose a health risk to your dog
I have purchased a freshener in the past for my dog and it burnt his skin where I applied. My thoughts from reviewing the product was the essential oils were not diluted correctly and the reason his skin was red raw
People make these products themselves and then sell them on socials like tiktok as I see loads but they can do this with no implications at all because there is no safety legislation
This first came to my attention in 2019 and once brexit happened and we split from the EU, it provided opportunity to introduce safety regulations on these products in the UK
Sadly it hasn't happened or even been a discussion on the table which baffles my mind
@OfficeforSandS we urgently need this market regulated

@FramePRUK@BBCNews I have a 13 year old so fully relate to your battle. Wow 8 is so young isn't it and so sad she is getting that peer pressure. Would love your support as its finally time to start the petition after 5 years and after this exposure hopefully industry will now listen ๐ค
Our co-founder and CEO Christina sharing with @BBCNews why we need urgent review of current cosmetic regulation in the UK to reduce the risk of harm to kids using inappropriate skincare products
