☀️ Firefighters spend years worrying about smoke exposure. But what about the sun?
The University of Miami Firefighter Cancer Initiative is studying occupational UV exposure in the fire service and needs firefighter volunteers.

The biggest firefighter exposure story of the next decade may not be what burns.
It may be what we wear.
PFAS. Flame retardants. Heavy metals. Halogenated dyes.
The industry called it performance.
Toxicology may tell a different story.

They told firefighters FR clothing was protecting us.
Now research is raising questions about the chemicals inside it: PFAS, flame retardants, heavy metals, and what happens when they’re worn for 24-hour shifts year after year.

PFAS. Flame retardants. “Performance” chemicals.
These substances can be found in everything from turnout gear and tactical uniforms to outdoor apparel and gym wear.
First responders deserve transparency. Consumers deserve safer options.

Working on a firefighter-PFAS-fuckery connect-the-dots now.. with never before seen dots..
