I’ve attended GDC five times now - three in my former life as an investment banker, and twice in my current role. As I walked around Moscone, I found myself reflecting on how the industry has evolved since, as well as the arc of my own journey in this space.

A few years ago, I had decided to pivot my career from finance into gaming for three main reasons.

5/6 I still - and will always - believe in games. But moreso, I believe in the people who play them. If there’s any tribe in the world I identify with, it’s gamers. We love challenges. We are inspired by stories and art. We can collaborate with complete strangers to solve complex problems. In many ways, gamers represent the best of the human spirit, and if there is any group that can free itself from the shackles of old industry, its us.
