A now-deleted promotional post of the ₱1.9 billion Mananga Flood Control Project has ignited public fury as the structure's failure during Typhoon TinoPH resulted in tragic loss of lives.

The removed post by Quirante Construction Corporation and DPWH had promised "protection from extreme flooding" and "community safety," but the devastating reality saw communities submerged and multiple fatalities recorded.

Former representative and Gabriela Women's Party's first nominee Sarah Elago expressed strong support for actress Rita Daniela who recently filed an acts of lasciviousness complaint against her co-actor, condemning all forms of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and workplaces.

"We stand with Rita Daniela and all victims of sexual harassment who bravely come forward to hold their perpetrators accountable. Her courage in filing a formal complaint sends a powerful message that sexual harassment has no place in the world of work, including the entertainment industry," Elago stated. "We encourage other victims to break their silence and speak up."

The former lawmaker emphasized that sexual harassment remains prevalent in the entertainment industry, with many cases going unreported due to fear of career repercussions and victim-blaming.

"Sparkle GMA Artist Center should impose a preventive suspension against the accused actor involved in this case to immediately separate the alleged perpetrator from the victim, especially since they work in the same company," Elago said. "Nagiging talamak ang ganitong klaseng kaso sa entertainment industry, kaya dapat magkaroon ng malinaw na protocol laban sa sexual harassment."

Gabriela Women’s Party vowed to continue advocating for the stronger implementation of laws protecting women, including the Safe Spaces Act, as part of a broader movement to encourage women to fight back against harassment and abuse. ###
