@slimetrash yeah and even then i'm not sold on this character whatsoever. middle-aged lesbian failwoman spy should be a slam dunk with me but she really does just feel like a watered down Harry DuBois ripoff
no partner to bounce off of, no characters i feel strongly about so far, no interesting and rich world. there's some cool mechanical innovations, but this style of game simply does not function without the writing carrying it.
there's the occasional funny line, but most of this game feels like it's trying to be disco elysium without the beating heart of elysium. it's not particularly interesting, memorable, or evocative. i haven't been given much reason to care about anyone. it's all just surface-level
@Tharizdun03 great review, captures so much of what i love about this game and gave me some new perspectives on it as well. as a lifelong Gamer, i've also yet to find something that beats Elysium in the writing department.
@S0fianmh@CargoPenths oh don't get me wrong i'm not upset by people calling chordioid derivative, it obviously is and that's intentional lol
i appreciate it though and im glad you liked the demo :)
I've said it before but I still cannot believe she looks down the barrel of the lens and smiles at the audience like "are you lovely fans excited?" like a baby show LOL it's INSANE
got a real case of "kinda snarky offhand remark blew up and now people think i'm attacking them" chat
also i know this isn't Kane's Backrooms lol, i just found a link to it ironically posted by someone who hated the movie for not following the "real" lore
CHORDIOID is at Steam Next Fest!
now's your chance to try the hottest indie RPG of 2025.
no, wait, deltarune. 2026.
no, wait, still deltarune. 2027?
it's an indie rpg. it's also a rhythm game. try it out. thanks!
@ForciblyTorsion ok actually wait. on reflection i think the original post was actually about using a real life noclip cheat, and then that got reworked into just finding spots with shitty wall collision for the major Backrooms interpretations like Kane Pixels', but still calling it noclip
