Sony's near monopoltic control of the anime industry is literally ruining the American anime market and is pretty much the largest factor in pushing the entire industry back to having to rely on piracy just to have reliable access to anime.
@BenjaminOscar77 Like 60% of my anime blurays i got from rightstuf, the only thing ive ever bought from crunchyroll was an exclusive record off of a friend's account, i fucking hate that they killed rightstuf, at least sentai sometimes still has some good sales...
Rightstuf was so significant because you can buy nearly every JP-related media on there ranging from anime, manga, live-action, and R18 works.
Everything was also packaged with care and they often held deep sales.
It was the one-stop hub for your otaku needs and its closure meant the fragmentation of all those media. And unfortunately, there really hasn't been a successor as good as it since.
@NoahLynn20@soonrightaway@likeanoutlaww fair, but also if you ever watched any of his commentary tracks the hints were already there so this shouldn't be suprising, he just loves attention and now he has it so he'll cater as hard as possible
Finding a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive that’s actually usable for ripping discs is like finding a unicorn today.
They have to be flashed with specific firmware and most drives made after 2022 aren’t compatible.
This is actually a very serious problem for film and game preservation.
@icewaveOS@JakeGreenBruh No need to call me a dumbass, but as someone who's in collector spaces of course it seems strange To Me and other collectors that people don't care about the difference, the whole point I was making is that people just lump them together.
