那覇からフェリーに乗ること約5時間。
ヨロン島に着いた瞬間、潮の匂いと港にいる知り合いが「帰ってきた感」を教えてくれます。

私が育った場所に、公園はありませんでした。
遊び場は、ずっと海。
砂を掘り、波と格闘し、テトラポッドの貝をこそぎ落としてそのまま食べる。（近くにはサトウキビ畑しかない）

「退屈」という感覚を知らないまま育ったのは、海のおかげかもしれません。
帰省するたびに、実家から徒歩1分の海へ向かいます。
波の音を聴いて、写真を撮って、SNSにあげる。
これがここ数年の私のルーティーンです。

「リフレッシュ」という言葉では、どうにも軽すぎる。
あえて言うなら「島人（しまんちゅ）に戻る」感覚です。
故郷とは、生まれた場所だけじゃない。
「本来の自分に戻れる場所」「背伸びをしない場所」そう定義したほうが、自然な気がします。

Lol there is an interesting thing going on here where modern GPU boxes display the actual card with all the fancy decorative crap. Like going to a modern restaurant and seeing photos of the food on the menu: it has completely flipped. The object's first-order intrinsic property takes priority over its second-order effects: a sign of deteriorating society that caters to the lowest common denominator customers that are incapable of abstract thought.
